“The weight of the world is love. / Under the burden of solitude, / under the burden of dissatisfaction / the weight, / the weight we carry is love. Who can deny? / In dreams it touches the body, / in thought constructs a miracle, / in imagination anguishes till born in human / looks out of the heart burning with purity / for the burden of life is love, / but we carry the weight wearily, / and so must rest in the arms of love at last, / must rest in the arms of love. / No rest without love, / no sleep without dreams of love / be mad or chill obsessed with angels or machines, / the final wish is love / cannot be bitter, cannot deny, cannot withhold if denied: / the weight is too heavy / must give for no return as thought is given in solitude / in all the excellence of its excess. The warm bodies shine together in the darkness, / the hand moves to the center of the flesh, / the skin trembles in happiness and the soul comes joyful to the eye / yes, / yes, / that’s what I wanted, / I always wanted, / I always wanted, / to return to the body where I was born.” Poetry by Allen Ginsberg Sunset Pa’ako Beach / Makena Maui Hawai’i Fine Art Photography / Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved This is a composite of four images, one of a beautiful horse I photographed at the 2008 Makawao 4th of July parade on Baldwin Avenue, and three of a beautiful sunset on Pa’ako Beach 30 September 2009. Sekhmet means “The Mighty One.” Sister Goddess to Bast, the lion-headed Sekhmet was the avenger / warrior Goddess in ancient Egypt and one of the most powerful of the Egyptian mythological gods and goddesses. She embodied the destructive force of the sun and she meted out divine punishment on behalf of the gods and the pharoahs. Conversely, she was also a goddess of healing and of surgery and medicines. She is usually depicted in red dress to denote her avenging nature and she is also known as the “Eye of Ra”. Original artwork measures 12.5×19 inches and was created with liquid copper leaf, gold paint pen, oil pastels, colored pencils, black art marker on heavy textured Strathmore paper. This artwork is a companion piece to my depiction of Sekhmet’s gentler sister Bast Bast of the Rising Sun View more of my artwork online at www.lynnetteshelley.com

Presently I’m working on a new series ” ON CHAIR ” for an exhibition in Innsbruck in the end of November this year. It’s all about human bodies and chairs. So let me start with the first one – I have always dedicated my work to the modern day woman. Colourful , sensual and , sometimes erotic – but always in a gentle way. / I’m told my images spread strong positive energy and are a compliment for every woman. There was a time I wanted to give this to the staff at Sears, but decided to hold on to it, currently I got the original design framed in case I do future public art displays at Starbucks again, so far due to the issues here in NYC. I’m not sure what I’m going to do, but will say that it works better as a card design or other, idk. Apophysis 2.06 I think, idk this was around 2007, CS, this version used CS3 since this is part of a jewel series now. I never design lame crap, sheeeeeeesh. L8ter.

Welcome to the Art Nouveau Group.
Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture and design that is characterised by it’s highly-stylised, flowing, curvilinear designs often incorporating floral and other plant-inspired motifs as an homage to the beauty of the natural world.
Some of the artists, architects, designers and artisans who worked in the Art Nouveau style include Aubrey Beardsley, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Renee Lalique, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Antoni Gaudi, Samuel Yellin and Frank Lloyd Wright.
Art Nouveau as a period spanned the 1880s to 1914 and is closely aligned with the Arts & Crafts Movement, with many artists working across the two styles. The term Art Nouveau (New Art) was first used when describing the work of a group of Belgian artists (Les Art Nouveau).
.
If you enjoy Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement, or work in these styles, you’re very welcome to join this group.
