  • Chapel Bridge by mnkreations

Chapel bridge is a very old wooden bridge spanning Sugar Creek near Stockland, IL. It is adjacent to the Sugar Creek Cemetery which is home to a scenic very old chapel from which it derives its name. The lore of this bridge is that it was constructed from a ferris wheel used at the World’s Fair in Chicago many, many years ago. Great place to fish! / / Sugar Creek Cemetery Chapel / / / Featured in the Stream Crossings Group and Bridges!

  • Crossing the MISSISSIPPI River by Ruth Lambert

This unlikely bridge crosses from a point where ILL,Ky and Missouri intersect. It is a very narrow bridge and built very high with steep entrances at both ends. It requires steady nerves and complete focus to navigate across.

  • Victoria Bridge by amaniquen

Location: Victoria Bridge, Brisbane CBD, QLD. I was on the citycat, heading back to the university. It was late in the afternoon and everyone crowded onto the front deck. It was a beautiful sunset – a golden orange tinged across the swirling clouds. In this photo you can see the people stopping and looking at the sunset.

  • Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge. by TallGuy

Feel like I’ve been transported back in time… I took this and many other similar shots in October 2007.. at the time this one didn’t get posted anywhere, as I don’t like posting too many similar photo’s at one time. / The transporter bridge was an unusual solution to the problem of getting traffic over the river Tees but also allowing tall ships through. There wasn’t enough room for a run up for a normal bridge so this fairly unique design was used. A section of road is suspended by cables, it acts like a gondola… cars and people get on at one side and then the gondola is whisked across to the other side. / The bridge was featured in “Auf Wiedersehen, Pet”, a British comedy series about a group of construction workers.. In one series the construction workers were supposed to have dismantled the bridge and rebuilt it in America. It was too convincing, the BBC had to put an assurance that the bridge had not been moved to America and still remained in Middlesbrough after complaints.. I believe the transporter bridge’s website still assure people it hasn’t been moved. It amazing how some people can be taken in..

  • A Wastwater Bridge by JamieGreen

This little bridge over a stream running into Wastwater really took my eye. / Wastwater is a lake in the west of the Lake District National Park and has a narrow road along it’s northern side leading to Wasdale Head at the foot of some spectacular fells, and this little bridge carries a lot of the traffic, but today, the second day of 2009, it was nice and quiet.

  • Paris 3 by nzgmw

Paris is a city we usually imagine through the green seasons of summer and spring. My 6-month stay coincided with winter. With tourism in hibernation, the winter months arguably show Paris at its monochrome best. This image shows barges on the river Seine with isle de la cite (City Island, home of Notre Dame Cathedral) in the distance.

  • 'Cromwell's Bridge, Lancashire by Steve Liptrot

Cromwell’s Bridge once carried a packhorse trail over the River Hodder, about a mile from its confluence with the Ribble. It earned its name after Oliver Cromwell’s parliamentary army crossed the bridge on their way from Gisburn to where they fought the King’s men in the Battle of Preston.

  • The Crossing by flyfish70

This is a train bridge across the Yuba River in Marysville CA. This brige is used on a daily bases, and has survived several major floods. I was going to put this one up in B&W but after careful consideration and all the beautiful colors in this photo due to the setting sun, I figured it best to leave color. The Yuba river that runs beneath the bridge is a major water artery for this area supporting farmers, as well as some of the area’s big salmon runs. • Bridge Under Construction by Brandy Bentz

This bridge opened up I2.3o.o8. I took this picture back in August, but I’m cleaning out my computer and wanted to throw this one up. There are two bridges, the old one is in front of the new. Oh and the white stuff in the top right corner comes from one of the many nearby power plants on the Ohio.

  • Ribblehead Viaduct, Ribblesdale, North Yorks. by Steve Smith

26 years ago the Settle-Carlisle Railway seemed doomed to closure. One reason was that the Ribblehead Viaduct was said to be beyond economic repair. Happily, this was not so, the viaduct was restored and the line was saved. The 24 arch Ribblehead Viaduct stands boldly in the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales. 200 people died during its construction, and that of nearby Blea Moor Tunnel. There are two ways of seeing the viaduct – from the hills and dales around of course. But from the train, the traveller may be lucky enough to see the shadow of the viaduct stretching for up to a mile as the sun sets below Chapel le Dale, the last resting place of those who died. • Gathering Courage for the Jump at Second Iron by Wayne King

The Second iron bridge along the Saco River in Bartlett, NH is one of the areas most popular swimming places. Everyone loves to jump from the bridge into the rushing waters below, but for some, contemplation and a gathering of courage is necessary. Photographed with Canon Digital Rebel EOS300, 80-200 Telephoto Lens Wayne D. King’s images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams. © Wayne D. Jo, Ozcloggie.
