The Southwest has such unique and beautiful plant life. The yucca is one of my favorites and the yucca bloom is New Mexico’s state flower. They have been blooming profusely for the past few weeks. This is an original acrylic painting on canvas and is part of my series of “Seasons” paintings.
I’m not certain of the name of this succulent. It’s very hard to find any print or information on it. / I think it is from the Heurnia family. / It would be great if anyone could identify it for me please. I finally have a name for this succulent, it’s Orbea variegata or Starfish Cactus, unless anyone can correct me
Saw this Prickly Pear leaf laying on the ground just as seen here, of course I photoshopped the colorization on B&W to add to it’s natural shape and overall theme.
A dead prickley pear cactus.
It’s a long climb, but the reward is worth it for this ant. / Crab Cactus.
This is a dead Prickley Pear pad that has fallen to the ground.
This Barrel cactus is in its second blooming in the heat of the Arizona summer.
This is the small blossom (less than 1 inch across) of the small Mammillaria Cactus. The blossoms form in a ring around the barrel of the cactus.

There was no phallic imagery intended. I was focused on the yellow against the harsh, thorny cactus. It just came out like this. Maybe I’m the only one seeing it ..?
