My husky-cross Marushka, playing her favourite game. We have dubbed it ‘Snowplow’ and it largely consists of her kicking up some serious powder hunting for invisible things under the snow and then taking great flying leaps through the air. Fresh snow is best, the colder the better, these are the rules according to huskies everywhere!
i love the winter, i love the starkness of the trees and the snow …that endless white with shadows of white…i long for this snow….and the sound of my boats in the white carpet….and the red wine with cinnamon .. the snowmen…hot chocolate…the fight with snowballs….they are a lot of reasons to love the winter…my winter is absolutely breathtaking. i just love the way the snow sparkle in the sun light.. everything is crispy and fresh…even the air smells different in the winter…the fallen snow on the trees…(sigh…) taken in January 2009 in Lower Saxony, Germany
The first snow of the season, going outside with my camera i was fascinated from this young woman who was walking alone in this solitary country road.My attention was captured by her little red umbrella as if she wanted put a little bit of color to the melancholic atmosphere of that grey day.
My kitty, Miss Smudge, loves this fluffy blanket and knows it’s the best place to be on a cold winter’s day …. Ricoh GRII compact, macro setting. This is Delaney’s Hut in Kosciuszko National Park. This one sits just off the Snowy Mountains Highway so an easy one to access. Unfortunately the original hut was lost in the 2003 bushfires, but has since been rebuilt. This is my 5th attempt to shoot this hut, every other time I’ve come past it I’ve had bright blue skies and it’s been lunchtime, so the light was just too harsh to get a decent photo. This time though, it was lunchtime again, but we had snow and some very menacing black clouds with the sun just breaking behind me, so the perfect light…. well in my eyes! Photo was taken 27th April 2009

It was a dreary and grey day today. The fog was so thick so I decided to go for a drive to one of the lighthouses. This is an old outhouse hanging over the edge of the cliff next to the lighthouse. This is what the lighthouse keeper would use to scratch that itch… lol. It’s probably about 100 feet to the ocean straight below. / / What you can’t see in the image is that behind the outhouse there is nothing but open ocean for the next 3000 miles. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / Canon 400D/XTI / 3 Shots. A little winter time majic in Photoshop
I found this bird shaped leaf while walking my dog before work. Heedless of time schedules I ran inside and grabbed my camera as I was experiencing the first snow sky of the season and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to capture the leaf. I fooled around a little with the exposure and now the red of the leaf really pops.
A shot taken up in Lapland a cold winter day with a temperature around -25 degrees Celsius. But it was a lovely day. “Winter” was featured in Happy Heaven group Sept 7th 2009.
(but you’re still here – I can feel it)
Snow, rain and everything in between We’ve had it all, just a few days into the new year. Our city is covered in a white layer, silencing the honking cars, / excited children and cursing parents. For a few hours, as it will surely melt again – / We have our own Secret Winter Wonderland
My boys, 9 and 2, laughing while the little one tries to pull the older on a sled in the snow!
