the courage of mattie stepanek If you looked him, frail and thin, it was hard not to be inspired / The kind of courage that made you want to get up when you were tired / At such at young age, he had wisdom that he gave and shared / A peacemaker, speech giver, a kid who was really brave and cared But it’s insane for us to think this way and I’m not trying to take anything away / But everyone thinks it’s so great that he got up everyday knowing he could die the next day / Well I got news, I’m dying too and I’m no scientist, but I think you may be dying too / And maybe if we all knew that were a month away, we would be trying too Is it more brave than anyone else having a positive attitude instead of a heart of sorrow? / If anything its less because we go on fantasizing about our dreams when we could be dead tomorrow / He certainly had dreams, but unlike us he had no delusions about a premature conclusion / And maybe if were more aware of our imminent death we would see this life as just an illusion I think its more courageous of the average person to advocate peace rather than sitting in silence / Because it’s easier to promote humanity as child when you’re less aware of man’s inclination to violence / I want to see the person who been held up at gunpoint say at you need to follow your heart song / Because to me that’s real courage, to see the worst in people and still have your heart strong I give credit for his positivity in the face of death but maybe he never told us everything before he left / It would have been a real honor to read “I’m scared to death of dying because I don’t know what’s next” / There’s real bravery in that honesty – I’ve been through love and heartache to hell and back / There’s been trying times when I would have rather died than to live my life with someone I lacked And then I share that with the world encouraging them that to have hope despite how bad life can be / I resolved to that fact, that despite it all we should hold hands and be united so we could surely be free / But the more I think of it the more complex it gets – come to think of it there have been times I felt I quit / It’s as simple as this, life is just so intricate that the harder it becomes the more our lives become delicate You can spend forever questioning the truth of courage and asking for proofs of God’s existence / Or you can follow your dreams whatever they may be and with courage have persistence / Happiness changes according to our life’s influences, still there’s nothing as true as this gift / The real truth is that truth is nothing but reclusive – that’s why finding hope is great despite the fact it’s elusive ===================================== / Dedicated to Mattie Stepanek / / ===================================== / This image is for the “lens baby challenge” .. / Blurs used: gaussian and motion / Image and poem by me 11.05.09 ===================================== / Much love / Shoaib

Paris, Fr Canon 7D kit 17 – 85mm // As Is Carousel was also the term for large “horse ballet” or Musical Ride spectacles mounted as part of the court festivities for special occasions such as royal weddings or state visits from the mid-16th century onwards, which gradually replaced serious jousting, although non-combat competitions such as the ring-tilt lasted until the 18th century. They were developed in Italy, especially by the Medici Grand-Dukes in Florence, and the first French example was in Paris in 1605. These usually took place in squares or large courtyards, and consisted of elaborately costumed riders and horses (usually from the cavalry) performing choreographed routines such as forming shapes together, riding in lines criss-cross against each other. They often took place at night, with riders carrying torches, and were accompanied by music. From the 17th century large decorated floats with allegorical figures were often included. The Place du Carrousel in Paris was so named from 1662, when it was used for such a display by Louis XIV. / (Wikipedia)

Contemplate I might not have all the words right when you reach out to me / But when hope has lost sight and you look for a reason on the screen / Just know we all go through moments when life has made us want to bleed / And when death seems to be better than having a voice that screams… Remember that although death prevents nightmares; it also destroys dreams You came to seek advice from me, but you know only you hold the key / This is what I tell you because this is what I believe / I feel that with all my being because this is what I have seen / Life is precious; And you still have trials before you reach your true destiny Think of the consequences of others; it’s selfish to think you are only destroying your own being When I look at others who’ve been there; that point at the seams / Never do they look back and not be thankful they aren’t deceased / Because depression never lasts and hope always does increase / They say “nothing is for free” and you know what, even your life is on lease Because everyone pays for their mistakes; But everyone can choose in what to believe And I know it’s easy for others to tell you there’s hope in stormy seas / But I too have been there, that point where I was on my knees / And death seemed like a choice that didn’t have as many repercussions to me / I got out not by turning for help, but by improving myself to get to be where I want to be We are all defined by the choices we make not contemplate, so remember the significance of your choice / Life is a gift and your words are friends, so if you don’t sing how can can the world hear the magnificence in your voice? —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / Image and poem by me /
