  • THERE GOES THE NEIGHBOURHOOD by Mugsy

Sometimes we go through life without having direction and when we get to a fork in the road we don’t know which way to turn. We put people in little boxes or put on an act to entertain and please others. Little do we know that the cow was the first to jump over the moon and that today it’s the moonsipality that cares for the roads on the moon. Life is not plain sailing so we must learn to not fight the elements, but use them to our advantage. Many times we’ll make a slip….. our goose is not cooked and we’ll soon recover. Not every person carrying a parcel is a terrorist nor does living in a fancy home make you a better person. Life is a journey, with many incredible, disastrous, happy or unhappy experiences. We have to learn to live with it, not expect too much from others when we ourselves do not give. Life is so simple…... but sometimes we do our best to complicate it. / We choose the wrong partners, often for the wrong reasons. We believe that death only comes to others. We believe we are invincible when we are young. / There are so may stop signs along the road but we fail to heed. / Life is so simple: To be honest and trustworthy, committed and enthusiastic when we do something is not rocket science. Life is an incredible adventure, never boring, sometimes frustrating and disappointing. / Imagine if things always went well…...... We’d never have a sense of achievement, experience joy or the thrill of success. Don’t try and have the most friends, rather have best friends. / “I cannot make the most of tomorrow without making the most of today”.

  • Jazz Singer No. 2 by Danilo Lejardi

Sorry for those who commented on the previous version; I removed it since I wasn´t quite satisfied with the results; when I saw it here, I noticed that it was darker than it should be, hiding aspects to be taken into consideration. Besides, I realized that the message I wanted to portray wasn´t enough clear. / Anyhow, I´d like to know what this image provokes on you.

  • Paint Me Black Angels by Danilo Lejardi

There´s this old classic Latinamerican song (“Angelitos Negros”/ “Little Black Angels”)_ it was created around the 40s, with music by M. Álvarez Maciste, and lyrics by Andrés Eloy Blanco, an important Venezuelan poet. / It has been sung not only by famous Latin American singers but by world-wide reknown artists such as Nina Pastori and Nana Mouskouri. Words reflect a sort of lament, a complaint: someone asking painters why they don´t paint black angels. Needless to say, it inmediately became an hymn to antirracism in its time. / I haven´t found any decent English translation of the song, here´s a verse for you to have an idea: / “Whenever you paint churches / You paint beautiful little angels / but you´ve always forgotten to paint / Little black angels”. Here´s the link to a YouTube video where famous mexican singer Pedro Infante sing “Angelitos Negros” during a scene of a movie with the same title: / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8V-EkTeX7U Here´s the most (known) popular segment of the song in Spanish: / / “Pintor nacido en mi tierra / con el pincel extranjero / pintor que sigues el rumbo / de tantos pintores viejos. I know this angel of mine is not so “little”; but it was the best way I could find to tribute this unforgettable song.

  • Suffer with Purpose, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 by Mark Lawrence

”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 God’s Spirit can guide and teach us through his word in such surprising ways. When God sends a message to us through scripture it is never by accident. In Isaiah 55:11, God says that wherever He sends His word it never returns empty, but always achieves the special purpose for which it was sent. Prayerfully consider the verse that inspired this painting and know that the Mighty God of all the heavens has reached out to touch you this moment. • Space, the nine houses and the three forms of energy... by N Kumar Bellani

FEATURES… / 3 Featured works today!!! / ...featured at the History Group / Original Painting / Oil-on-canvas / 24X20 inches ...I hope that by now we are familiar with the legend of ‘the nine houses’ (The NavGraha) and their impact on life…or please go to The Navgrah Prasann and The Holy Code which are the other two artworks from this series…If we join each of the nine houses as shown in this painting and the ‘Holy Code’, we get the symbol of Swastika, the ancient symbol of Hinduism, Budhism, Jainism and many other religions worldwide… further… The life cycle…The three forms of energy…Red, Green and the Ochre in the center of this painting…symbolise 1. The energy to create…birth / 2. The energy for that creation to sustain…life / 3. The energy that destroys…demise thus completing the cycle of life… I may mention here that this symbol has been an inspiration to many an architectural design and much much more since ancient times… !

  • “Michael” by Gary Grant

Egyptian Angels (Mass) / I did not realize there were “Angels” in Egyptian culture until I started to read about the deities in Egyptian Mythology and Pantheon. / An example, in Chaldea “Michael” was considered the angel of the Last Judgment and the “weigher of souls” being in this role he was considered a descendent of Anubis. Anubis is a jackal-headed deity that presides over the judgment of the dead. / “The idea of unique angelic species probably derived ultimately from the influence of Egyptian, Sumerian, Babylonian, and Persian views of supernatural beings. This interaction of ideas produced the familiar image of the winged messenger of God.”

  • A catlike sprawl. by Lasaration

Dead air, no air / no time left to breathe. / Run out of breath, / nowhere left to go. / Got no way to leave. Lungs so dead, body wasted. / This body has no place to grieve. They lye in a coffin. They lye in a ditch. / They burn or rot to leave this life. / This life can be a bitch. Poem by Damien Lasaration / Copyright 2008.
