  • The Gift of Learning by Pip Gerard

I was watching the movie “The Ultimate Gift” listening to the character played by James Garner talking to his grandson when he said… ‘Learning is a gift… even if pain is your teacher”. As soon as the words had finished coming out of his mouth I honestly said out loud – YES!! Immediately I was blown away by the quote and I wrote it down and thought about its meaning for weeks. I’ve never felt so affected by a sentence before. Upon reflecting this quote I found it funny to realise that I spent my twenties doing everything to avoid and ‘run away’ from my emotional pain… now in my 30s I’ve realised that pain was essential for me to become a more caring, less-judgemental and forgiving person. Pain seems to show us the truth in others… the truth that all people, no matter what’s on the outside… have a heart capable of breaking on the inside. I love it that I can now view the grief of my brothers death as somewhat of a gift to me – rather than nothing but a loss Featured November Prize Challenges Featured in Creative Inspirations .

  • Good and Evil - Two Sides of the Coin by Andrew Mark

This is an image representing the cover up of emotion. So many people put on the face of beauty and happiness but inside are rotting and hating. They hide this hate and destruction with a painted face of joy. This is not to be seen as ‘demonic’ in any way. The original picture was taken by liquid-venus Comments and critiques are welcome. • There are many stories that we hear. Some we believe others we don’t. However I believe we can learn from everything that comes to our minds. The Bible talks of The Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve. Perhaps this is a true story or perhaps it is a story from someone’s imagination. There is another story that is gaining some interest and it is the story of Lilith. The story claims that Lilith was the first created woman and like Adam she was formed from the soil. That she quiet naturally thought of herself as Adam’s equal and demanded of Adam to treat her as such. However Adam didn’t see Lilith as an equal and in sexual intimacy demanded Lilith to take the lower or subservient position. Lilith was outraged at this and would not allow herself to be controlled by Adam. This then caused Adam to complain to God that Lilith was evil and dangerous. Lilith fled the Garden of Eden and was never to return. The story goes that God then created a subservient woman in Eve and that Lilith coupled with Devils and created evil children. I believe that this story can teach us much about modern day life. That we can further build on this story to create a positive message for mankind. I believe that all people are equal in their hearts and souls..that material life can create rankings and status but that in ultimate reality it is all an illusion. For most of humanity we have judged according to gender, race, material wealth etc. However true peace and joy comes from no judgement and no competition fears. I feel that our lives today are especially tainted with how we view women. I believe that many men fear women and in their fear try to control them. They attempt to act in ways that project superiority over the females in their lives. I believe lust and sexuality are perfect examples of this fear. However I believe whenever any person attempts to control another or put themselves above another they don’t feel full passion for life. I believe that at a deep level the Lilith character knew of this rule of life and energy. That she knew Adam would not feel God fully by dominating another person. A truly peaceful and powerful person is one who surrenders control of life. Who respects all of life from plants to animals to other people. This person receives energy and beauty from all things in his/her life and is in harmony with him/herself and God. Why would any man want to be with a woman who he needs to control or exert superiority over??? Surely the best union of any two people is where they both respect each other fully. Where they can give each other total freedom as they trust each other equally and perfectly. Even in sexual intimacy this rule applies. Once a couple surrender any need to control the encounter or each other true bliss is achieved. In surrendering their mind’s control they allow their heart’s energy to direct the encounter. To give and receive pleasure equally. Could it be that Lilith could see far into the future and that modern society needs to believe in Lilith more than in Eve??? I am hopeful at least in a small way that this website will continue with the message of Lilith. It is my intention that the models depicted in our galleries will project an image of style passion and grace..that their eyes will speak the truth that they are secure and empowered women who value everyone but need no one. taken from the philosophy section of my website www.bodylinecal.com

  • Wisdom by Tony Ryan

The model in this pic is very emotionally sensitive. I come across many in my photo shoots who have this sensitivity. However most have been conditioned to rely on their looks as their sole gift. Therefor many do not think of themselves as overly intelligent. I believe that sensitive people have access to incredible wisdom if they open their minds to their hearts. Further I see wisdom as true intelligence as it is intuited rather than learnt. This particular shot to me portrays the depth of feeling and wisom that this women has access to. I am really passionate about running workshops pertaining to images such as these. I have set up a group to promote and feature these workshops. / Empowered Beauty / Also please visit my personal website www.leapoffaith.com.au

  • The Face of Youth by Tony Ryan

The pic here is of a young model who employed me to do his first portfolio shoot. When I look at this photo I see a near perfect human aesthetic. He has perhaps the best male face I have ever photographed. I wonder however if the perfection of this face is a true reflection of where our youth are at as people. I believe that we can all be products of our environment. At present I believe that many of our youth are carrying much frustration at life. That they are products of a society of elders who have instilled a belief in competition, survival and appearances. That this society has sold out on their own hearts and passed this energy onto their youth. I hear so many adults bemoan the violence and the drug taking of the younger generation. Also how little respect they have for their elders and society in general. This may be true and valid however how many of us slow down enough to wonder how much affect we have had on the nature of our children. If we really expect the youth in our society to have high principles and respect then we have to give them role models to inspire these qualities. As it stands there are precious few people who believe in the essence of truth. So many who say that you cannot change the world and use this as an excuse to not live from their own deepest ideals. I believe that if we all take responsibility for our own emotional state that we can create a united and peaceful world. www.leapoffaith.com.au / Empowered Beauty

  • A City Dream by Maria Mann

A soft pastel on paper, an interpretation of dreamy night with a full moon, slight fog that turns an imaginative city into a hopeful reality. My fascination with cityscapes and the people who live in those buildings stems from living in New York and Paris. It opens up the mind to all sorts of story-telling.

  • Let Go by Brent Monger

This is a very symbolic image for me and one that I had been thinking of doing for some time now. I had to “Let Go” of everything I knew (friends, job, money, girlfriend, security, and most of all…fear!) in order to move to Sedona. I was “comfortably uncomfortable” living in Connecticut. I left Connecticut without notice and moved to Texas to reconnect with my parents whom, at the time, were in their early 70’s. I stayed with my parents for six months and it was one of the best decisions of my life!!! I learned to “Let Go” of “expressing” the views that had strained my relationship with my parents. My parents are old and set in their ways. I was the one that needed to just say “Ok” and “Yes Mom/Yes Dad.” It was “I” that had to “Let Go.” I just needed to realize that their hearts were in the right place and that they have always had good intentions!! After leaving Texas, I moved to Sedona without ever visiting it first. I cannot explain it but I knew that I would love it here…and I do! The meaning of my license plate is soooo much more complex than the brief explanation above! For me, this image represents learning from your past but not dwelling in it. Looking ahead and not worrying about the uncharted, bumpy road-of-life that lies hidden from view. Keeping a positive perspective so you can manifest the things you truly want in life, despite the obstacles you may face. Live in the NOW…Be PRESENT!!! Don’t let the present slip by while you prepare for the future! Follow your heart and your dreams!!! Perhaps most importantly, show gratitude for what you have and the people you hold closest to your heart!! People often ask me, “What is the meaning of your license plate??” I often reply, “What does it mean to you??” Sometimes, I will just shrug my shoulders and say nothing. I am a man of few words for the most part; however, I enjoy watching people as a silent observer without casting judgment. Even though I don’t say much most of the time, I do have much to say. The wheels in my head are always turning. I am a man that holds emotions inside and I try to visually express myself through photography. Without saying a word, photography allows me to show others my world, through my eyes. Although everyone will see the same image, each person will interpret the image differently. I am getting laid off from work (01/05/2009) and I know that tough times lie ahead, especially in the current economy. I have never been happier with a job, it was a great two years; two years that I will never forget. Although I’m a little scared, I am also excited! I look at this as a new beginning…a possibility for something better to come. The end of a wonderful chapter in my life and the beginning of a new chapter! By the way, since I got this license plate, I have been pulled over by the Police for speeding three times. They let me go…all three times ;-) Maybe they let me go because it says “LETGO” or maybe because it is a “veteran plate” or maybe both…who cares? As long as it invokes emotion when people view it, then it serves a higher purpose! Pentax K20D Raw-to-Jpeg (Unedited)

About This Group

I believe that the ability to feel is the most amazing gift that anyone could be given. Further I believe creative people are the most deeply sensitive people in the community. The primary direction of this group is to bring together as many creative people as possible and to encourage them to spark a creative evolution of sorts.

In order to truly make the most of our creative gifts I believe we need to bring stability to the ability we have been given. So many creatively gifted people seem to live their material lives as victims to the source of their talents. We tend to struggle for our art or even believe we have to be in chaos to actually produce genius.

This group wishes to change this perception. I am encouraging the people in this group to become as deeply self reflective as they are deep in feeling. To become passionate about understanding the feelings and moods that spark our flair. As part of this passion I would like people to challenge their own conditioned beliefs about being creative and also the general conditioning of the world.

My personal opinion is that those who feel the deepest are amongst the most insecure in the community. However if we really go deep in our thinking we can bring stability to the amazing gift of feeling that we have. The present society we live in lacks so much passion and freedom. I believe that those of us with creative flair and a determination to understand this flair can spark a truly inspiring creative evolution in the community.

Please note that with submissions this is a group for only your most inspiring work. Therefore many submissions will not be accepted. This also means that this group for some will be as much about viewing the works of others as it will be about submitting work. However I believe viewing and expanding on the creativity of others is a very important part of evolving your own work and your own emotional maturity.

GUIDELINES;

No more than 4 pieces of work submitted per week per artist. Please only submit your most inspirational work and also please keep writing to less than 500 words. Would also encourage people to submit some words with their visuals explaining the inspiration behind the image.

With regards to inspiration I am looking for visuals and words that inspire us to go deep in feeling and thought. I am looking for work inspired by people who believe in humanity and the concept of relationship. Creative work can inspire by it’s sheer beauty or can be targeted towards bringing awareness to areas of life that you feel could be improved.Further you may wish to highlight areas of life that you believe are already empowering society.

In general I am drawn to honesty, humility and passion. With photos I would encourage people to endeavour to present subjects in a real in the moment type of mood rather than anything too contrived. Whilst I personally find nudes to be empowering I believe that there are so many aspects of life that create empowerment. Architecture, nature, animals, automobiles, relationships …the list is endless.

All work must be approved prior to uploading on the site. Further this group is not about people wanting validation for their work. It is about people wanting to inspire others both with their own creations and with their views on the works of others. I want this group to be of sharing and co creating.
