Model; Bianca Golsby, / Makeup; Fiona Horsley / Inspired by Aleci This was taken at the same shoot as the alternate “Lady luck”. Two different poses and a different emotion. You are used to these blanched dim corridors, / you are used to the king / who passes you without speaking. The other one is different / and you almost remember him. / He says he is singing to you / because he loves you, not as you are now, / so chilled and minimal: moving and still / both, like a white curtain blowing / in the draft from a half-opened window / beside a chair on which nobody sits. I’ve had this Christmas Cactus plant for 18 years and it’s never bloomed at Christmas! Today,Nov.7th., there’s at least 40 blooms already out or on the way, and probably twice that many yet to come. And it blooms usually 3 times a year, sometimes in the middle of summer. I’ve never followed the prescribed methods of caring for it, just give it water and plant food now and then, and it seems to be quite happy. The blooms are very soft and delicate, with very faint “fuzz” along the edges which makes it look like soft focus. / November 7,2009, Fuji S100FS camera, 1/25 sec. F 2.9, ISO 400,Focal length 7.8 mm.

Captured in Lake Ray Hubbard, near Dallas, one evening when the sky was clear. The whole world became a warm red ball with the evening glow. I took this with Canon EOS 450D with 70-300 mm Tamron lense
