Many thanks to Lyndy / for the use of her image of the Needles huggs hun :-))
Surrounded by techno-tools our brains sometimes feel like they’re frizzling to ash. But we’re still the center of the activity. We see a need, we buy the equipment, we assemble and connect and test and then fire things up. We still call the shots. Our hub-jobs are secure. So far.... Base image is a macro of a begonia bloom, with photos of me and also of some of my computer paraphernalia…all mixed together with a digital painting. Photoshop Elements 3.

An artwork I did by manipulating various layers in Photoshop CS2. I used 2 of my own pictures, one with my son’s eyes and another picture of a bright orange flower. / Filters used: radial blur, twist, distort, and couple others.
A misty morning blended with an image by Marcus Ranum in CS3. The lady’s forlorn demeanor and “all dressed up with nowhere to go” image made me think of Karen Carpenter’s song “Looking for Love…” / Though people say love is everywhere, / I’m looking for love, but it’s just not there For those interested, the background image was processed, the figure placed (which automatically gives a second layer) and blended using the opacity slider, “blend if” options in the blending mode, and erase tool. A shadow was produced with the burn tool, and light controlled on the figure with dodge, burn, and a white brush at about 5%. The blur tool was also used around any hard edges to help the figure blend into the b/g and not appear sharp and ‘dropped in’. Most of these actions were done on separate layers in order to be able to switch them on and off individually and ensure the correct effect was achieved. It also prevents ruining the whole image – if something doesn’t work, just delete that particular layer! Technical note: This is a compilation of 4 photos – the eye (cropped from a face shot and enlarged), the printed circuit board, the trees at the bottom and the woman face barely visible on the left side. All images were layered in PSP X2, duplicated to several layers, selective erasing, coloring, sharpening/softening and other effects performed on each layer until getting the desired effect. If there’s a soul / and it’s alive / with you, What happens / when its job / is done? Does it wither? / Does it fly away? / Or does it corrode? Does your soul / (if you have one) / turn to flames? Painted and edited in Corel Painter Essentials 4 and Photoshop Elements 3 with some photo images of me and nice big fractal in there somewhere.
Here is something I have never done before, used photos from istock (water) and the public domain (Poseidon & Sounion Temple) to create an image I wanted. I wanted to make this as a base for another work, so before it turns into Atlantis, here’s Poseidon’s Temple.
This is a compilation: Cactus, ocotillo, landscape all shot in Arizona. The sky was shot in Maui. I converted it to black and white and used CS3 posterize feature for effect. / / Hope you like!
