This kitty is very like my own cat Sam (Samsara). I love the tawny, tobacco earth tones of tabbies aswell as their stripes and ring-like markings. / I bought a $1 string of pearls from the opportunity store to use as a still life prop for the pearls, to copy from. / This is the last of six small canvases I am sending into a ‘Small Packages’ exhibition. The exhibition is being held by the NZ Art Guild in November at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand All canvases are the same size: 10×10 inch. / Acrylic on canvas.

I find her in my work place. A little black of dirt and very near to death thing. After 4 warm and soapy washes in the sink at work, I find out she was WHITE! Her eyes were so infected and dirt that it took me hours to discover that she has different coloured eyes. Now she is full of life in a loving home. And she is SO SWEET!

This tabbycat definitely looks a bit worse for wear but she doen’t have a hangover – she’s just purring in her sleep. She does looks a bit tipsy, though, with her tongue hanging out and one eye half open!

Oil painting on Harboard made in 2000. I used fine art for the cats and I use a palette knife for the back ground. In 2000 I have six cats. From left to right you see Grey/white Kareltje (Charles) on a red carpet, in the middle Nina my Ragdoll/Birman kitty in that year, in the corner right my mysterious Black Joplin. In the corner left, Grey Babooshka, Bowie on his Blue pillow, and red/white Julia hanging on a branch. In 2008 there are only two cats, Nina and Joplin. There are four now in Cats Haven. / New is Suzy, born in 2003, she looks a little like Bowie.
