God said it isn’t necessary for women to plait their hair. I believe it is because we share a beauty that is all our own. After all, He fashioned us out of the rib of man as opposed to being created from the dust like all of the other things. Good as they are, we (women) were still fashioned. That took thought and expertise for us to be the way we are, and yet we still do so much adorning. 9X12 Sketch paper using Percise fine and extra fine black ball point ink.

Stevie Nicks in a Night Priestess type aspect. With the stars and moon. This is the type of work I used to do about 10 years ago. It was connected more towards a devine/occult aspect. Trying to bring that back into my work, a kind of relationship with the night and being purely feminine. I was also inspired by Stevie Nick’s art as well and hence the background. This piece came from a lyric of Stevie’s song “Belladonna”. And the lady’s feeling / Like the moon that she loved / Don’t you know that the stars are / A part of us / And the lady’s feeling / Just like the moon that she loved 8×10.5 / Ink.
Pen and ink on paper created November 2009 .This image just came out of the blue really .I have no paticular reason for drawing this ,no long winded explanation or symbolic, metaphorical, psychological reason .It is just an image that I conjured up from no where just before I was about to go to sleep it came to mind and I sketched it down and then later fleshed it out .Enjoy.
The original is an india ink- hand drawing -on acetate. From there a silkscreen was made for white, “beater” style tank tops. The print was very large running off the edges of the garment. You are viewing an Ink screenprint on white bond paper produced with the same screen. The text was added later.

Characterized by a steely blue-black exoskeleton, this roach has colonized every place on Earth where humans live, come and go. A lot of my fascination with insects revolves around the structure and reflectivity of insect wings and exoskeletons. This illustration was originally published in BackHome Magazine, 1993.
From my pen and ink phase, early 1990s. I was just entering the comics publishing world and black and white ruled. The subject matter suggests a dream source, or perhaps it came from one of my exercises of turning my subconscious loose on random scribbles on a page.
I love how I look dressed in my lovely black dress…. it just matches everything about me…
