Ode To Joy by Connie Thomilson
As I was looking at this photo, I began to think about the trust a baby has in it’s parents. Oscar here trusts because he does not yet know the possibilities of what could happen. All he knows is that it is a a great place to sleep. He trusts because he has to trust. This is the way God is wants us to trust him. He wants us to babes in His hands. After all, “he has the whole world in his hands”. My son’s hands look strong and capable, however, I cannot see the Lords hands. So like this babe, I have to just assume that His hands are too. There is one big difference. The lord promises us that he will “Never leave or forsake us.” Man cannot say the same, because even if my son wanted to never leave or forsake his son, there may come a time when he might have to. My hope for my life is that I will trust the Lord the way Oscar trusts his daddy. Simply with blind faith, to believe that I can trust that I can..

A Mute Swan Busking by AARDVARK
The raised wings and the head and neck pulled back is termed “busking” and is a sign of agression, pehaps the title should be “Big Guy In A Bad Mood”.

Framed by Old Tree Stump by Judy O'Neil
This old tree stump makes a great frame for the tree and manfern fronds. On the right side of the frame, you will notice some cobwebs showing. I wasn’t sure if they would show but was pleased the result. / Another Allendale Gardens capture.

Monks At Holy Pond, Angkor by Dave Lloyd
This image was actually taken by lovely wife. We went to Angkor Wat about six years back and I had bought a digital camera for her birthday. Little did I know she would become so enthusiastic about photography. She has had work published and we have exhibited together several times. Now, she is arranging her own exhibition for later this year. Me, I’m pleased as punch to have a partner who shares my photographic passion.

Beautiful Ugly Hands BY: DanaMS
I don’t remember too much from my childhood,
but all the memories I have
somehow are taking me back to my grandma
and her old, overworked hands.
Ugly and wrinkled with many dark spots,
nails yellow, hard, often sharp,
blue veins showing through dry, thin skin
they weren’t as soft as mine..
But once
those were the hands of a child as well
discovering world by the touch
scared squeezing tight their grandma’s hand
during the World War One…
Those were the hands of young wife and mother
holding a baby and waving good bye,
while their beloved man, husband, father
was called for the country to fight.
They worked so hard through all those years
of the most difficult time of life,
feeding and caring and building home
for my aunt and my father to come.
For me those hands were bringing pure love,
always ready to give,
wiping my tears when I was sad,
stroking my hair when falling asleep.
I don’t remember much from my childhood
but I do remember them
the most beautiful, missing to this day
my grandma’s loving hands.
THE NINE RUNNERS UP ARE…
OUR SECOND PLACE WINNER FOR THE WRITING CHALLENGE
loramae with her piece beautiful scar
often life leaves ugly scars,
engraved in body and mind.
leaving a certain remembrance,
of another place and time.
it is a most natural thing,
to look and turn away.
not many scars are beautiful,
left by the hands of fate.
but there resides misconception,
when looking at an ugly old scar.
for if time and thoughts are taken,
they remind you of where you are.
not there anymore but here in the now,
looking back a smile memory gives.
for that ugly old scar is a beautiful reminder,
that today you are blessed to live.
