Yhay!!!! Marilyn Monroe! I suggest it on the darker colored tees
My obsession with all things Marilyn Monroe came to a crescendo in the mid 1980s and then Audrey Hepburn quickly too over. In Arcylic/Watercolour 310×390
©Seth F. Weaver, Sr. 09/23/09.Inspired by Marilyn Monroe, the Mona Lisa, and the work of Leonardo. I borrowed an old picture from a pal of mine, Leonardo Da Vinci. I told him I was going to upgrade it, deface it, and make it more 21st century. He told me to go ahead and he didn’t seem to be one bit worried as to what I might do to his masterpiece, since everyone involved with the original was DEAD. Don’t worry about the fact that it hangs in the Louvre, it’s just France and it may be a century before the French notice it, Leo said. When I STEAL, I STEAL from the BEST! A Compullage™ creation.

My take on the famous ” Playboy ” pose from 1953 of Marilyn Monroe ( nee Norma Jean ) on Butcher Paper. Featured in * Painted Ladies *
Post impressionist, acrylic, portrait painting. Doctor Gachet was Vincent’s Doctor and as such he painted him a number of times. In this version Doctor Gachet is seated in my dining room. It has been suggested that I should have painted myself also seated at the table, however I have placed Vincent’s yellow chair there instead.
Created as a homage to Van Gogh’s Image of Starry Starry Night from a purple blue berry that grows wild here in Florida… ... adjusting colors in photoshop 7.0 and yes.. the image of Starry Starry Night is public domain (but I’m sure everybody knows that :)
This is an homage to Van Gogh. / Made my hair red in Photoshop. / Added a texture to the background. / That is all. / /
My homage to Vincent van Gogh, showing two images of the famous artist based on his own self portrait. In the background is a mad swirl of the bright colours he loved so much.
As Van Gogh committed suicide (1890), his room, a 7 sqm attic at the Auberge in Auvers-sur-Oise, has never been rented again and thus remained unchanged due to the superstition of the owners. A very moving moment to stand there …. and to visit his grave at the little churchyard a moment later.
Featured in First Things Group / and Lets Pay Homage I Do a Painting on occasion of Artists that have deeply touched & influenced me … this is my version .. I rendered in acrylic Its subtly different ..with much love to Van Gogh ~ who the world rejected in his time, & truly did not understand at all .. only a few did .. I Quote from Don MC Clean’s song Starry Starry night / Starry, starry night. / Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue. / Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, / Weathered faces lined in pain, / Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand. / For they could not love you, / But still your love was true. / And when no hope was left in sight / On that starry, starry night, / You took your life, as lovers often do. / But I could have told you, Vincent, / This world was never meant for one / As beautiful as you. ......
Stevie Nicks in a Night Priestess type aspect. With the stars and moon. This is the type of work I used to do about 10 years ago. It was connected more towards a devine/occult aspect. Trying to bring that back into my work, a kind of relationship with the night and being purely feminine. I was also inspired by Stevie Nick’s art as well and hence the background. This piece came from a lyric of Stevie’s song “Belladonna”. And the lady’s feeling / Like the moon that she loved / Don’t you know that the stars are / A part of us / And the lady’s feeling / Just like the moon that she loved 8×10.5 / Ink.
Post impressionist, acrylic, oil, paper collage, textile and enamel painting of Vincent VanGogh’s cell at St Remy. In the last year of Vincent’s life he was placed in an asylum and in this one year he created more than 200 artworks. I have tried to imagine what the interior of his cell would have looked like with so many of his works displayed, However these works on the cell walls are my paintings, all excepting the drawing in black and white that I have made of Vincent. The view through the cell window is of “Starry Starry Night”.
Post impressionist acrylic, Oil and paper collage painting.
In Toronto these are called Sliders…I have no idea why…PB is for Pickle Barrel, a very popular family restaurant here….these mini burgers are served usually as appetizers, but since you get three or four of them, they end up feeling like a main course…generally they are topped with cooked mushrooms and red onions, and are perfectly delicious... This tshirt design is inspired by kitsch flying duck wall ornaments only the birds aren’t mallards. These naive style birds are from the portfolio of master font designer Manfred Klein. Our homage to the man known as the Mark Twain of type, the design features three full length birds, portions of two others who are flying in and out of the design area, plus a bird on the ground looking wistfully up at them.
This tshirt design features a couple embracing inside a red heart. It pays homage to the life-sized bronze sculpture “Winchers Stance” by John Clinch (1934 – 2001) and is located in the busy foyer of Buchanan Street bus station in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, UK. The girl is wearing a tam o’shanter hat and there’s a tear on her face. He could be a returning – or departing – soldier. A Glasgow Kiss is another term for a head butt …
Dancing with Death… The old practice of Sacrifice actually were very festive and happy occasions. In Markers/Pencil/Pen 210×290 Inspired by Salvador Dali’s “Landscape with Butterflies”,
This simple statue of Edwin Flack, the athlete known as “the lion of Athens”, stands in Berwick, in semi-rural Victoria, my home state. Edwin Flack was Australia’s only representative in the first modern Olympics, the 1896 Athens Games. He was also our first Olympic champion. How he got there is an unusual story. He was based in London at the time, working as a junior accountant at what was then known as Price, Waterhouse and Company. He took a month’s leave and made the journey without any fanfare (there was no Australian Olympic Committee in those days) after paying for a sea passage to Athens. He won the 800 metres and the 1500 metres and even competed in tennis – with a borrowed racquet. Interestingly enough, he even ran in the marathon and led the race until he was passed by the eventual winner, Spiridon Louis. You can see more of my images of this statue, as well as a full-length feature article on Edwin Flack, on the pictorial blog post titled Running Mate on my blog. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F9.5, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 78mm. Featured by my co-host in PASSIONATE ABOUT VINTAGE, October 2009. 69-3614
