The Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud, is a mud volcano in the subdistrict of Porong, Sidoarjo in East Java, Indonesia that has been ongoing since May 2006 as an alleged result of poor drilling practice. As of October 30, 2008, the mud flow is still ongoing at a rate of 100,000 m3 per day. It is expected that the flow will continue for the next 30 years. As of November 2008, the Sidoarjo mud flow is contained by levees, but further breakouts are possible. This shot taken between the primary and secondary levees. Another of the beautiful features of Noosa Heads, is Weyba Creek and Lake Weyba. Just before the Noosa River exits to the Pacific Ocean, there is a offshoot called Weyba Creek. This feeds from Lake Weyba, nestled in the Noosa National Park area, Queensland, Australia. These river systems are all part of the Noosa Biosphere, and are home to many species of bird and animal life. Much of it, untouched by man, which is the way is should stay… Canon 50D, 16mm, 5:00pm. On my recent trip to Booti Booti National Park in Pacific Palms on the Mid North Coast, I came across this onld volley ball net about 50 meters offshore in Wallis Lake. This group is intended for lovers of fine photography for the more ‘dirty’ aspects of our jobs. Going down to the mudflats to take photos.
The photos MUST be at any of the title suggestions – mangroves, marshes, and mudflats, but may include tidal zones or swamp areas.
They must contain a significant proportion of the area to demonstrate the vast beauty that surrounds.
They may picture animals of the area (preferably no close ups or macros).
At present art works are automatically accepted and challenges will occur as the group grows.
If we start finding various photos that don’t fit the theme they will be removed without warning.
Let’s get dirty!!!
Congratulations to reflector with this wonderful photo of the mangroves at the Kooragang Wetland Centre in Newcastle.
Please congratulate reflector on this winning photo for the first challenge in the Mangroves, Marshes and Mudflats group – WELL DONE!!!
