The comfort and love of Friends.
a friend / I call my sister / would be here / if I wished her / in a minute do you have a friend like that / who knows your heart / like no other who loves and laughs / with her whole entire being who knows the moment something’s wrong / and showers you with concern / who puts you first / and gives without hesitation I do sister, though you are / miles away / when the wind dries your tears / and catches your heart / believe in the magic / of my love never forget.. / a friend you call your sister / would be there if you wished her / in a minute
I really enjoyed this painting from beginning to end. I thought I had lost it at first when I began the foreground. But that sometimes happens when I paint. I hung on to my vision, and it came out just fine. The medium is watercolor, I use Arches cold pressed 100% cotton paper, and the dimensions of the original painting are 12 3/4 inches x 16 1/2 inches.

GEMINI AWAKENING Gemini is the first air or mental sign. The Gemini archetype investigates and teaches us about polarities. We all must learn to work with the never-ending play of duality and opposites, which is the nature of our mind and the essence of physical and universal reality. The Gemini archetype introduces us to the dualistic mind, where there is always a conversation and often a fight between two different points of view. In our dual mind we experience an endless debate – Should I or shouldn’t I? Will this work or will that work better? Am I OK or is something the matter with me? Should I do this or should I do that? Am I safe or am I in danger? The constant swing between two extremes is a source of confusion, conflict, indecisiveness, over-stimulation and inability to focus. STRATEGIES TO DEAL WITH POLARITIES A major challenge for the Gemini archetype is to learn how to deal with and transcend the conflict of duality in our rational mind. One of Gemini’s strategies to deal with the reality of polarities is humor. Components of the path of humor include (1) an attitude of playfulness, (2) choosing the heart over the head (major lesson of Gemini and mental air signs), (3) not taking things so seriously or personally, (4) witnessing the cosmic play, and (5) enjoying the dance of life. The Gemini twins embody the nature and traits of their mentor Mercury/Hermes. Forever young and a perpetual adolescent, both are cheerful, playful, and always on the move. Their tool chest for dealing with life includes (1) a flexible attitude toward life, (2) an ability to rationally analyze pros and cons and mistakes, (3) the willingness to change and to adapt their behavior and their thinking, and (4) a sense of humor. Together these skills create a formula for not taking life, themselves or their mistakes too seriously. Featured in The Divine Feminine, Sisters in Arms and Painted Ladies groups Acrylic on 9×12 canvas board – a little inspiration from my favorite artist, Erte! She is a sky goddess, guardian of the stars and night sky, she’s the one that makes the sun set and the moon rise. She also stands as Justice one of the Major Arcana cards in a tarot deck. The two most important laws governed by Justice are really two sides of the same coin. First comes the law of cause and effect, stating that all events are connected and each present state is the result of all past states. This is a such strange idea to get your mind around because sometimes seemlingly meaningless actions will have great ramifications. Justice shows that every action you do will eventually have an effect, someday, and you really have no idea of knowing what that event is until it happens. Often the figure on the Justice card is pictured sitting in front of a curtain; this curtain hides the machinations of the universe that bring about these final results. From the law of cause and order develops the law of Karma, showing that all your actions will return to you eventually. They will be modified slightly, and they are often strengthened over time, but the lesson is still the same. As you sow, so shall you reap. This is really a simple elaboration of the law of cause and effect. Under this new law, not only will everything you do have an effect, everything you do will have an effect on you. This is where it becomes critical to be mindful of your actions, because everything you take will come back to you eventually. Before Justice, you have to answer for all your actions, right and wrong. Life, if nothing else, is fair. She raises her curtain to start a sunset or to bring on the night, all the while, behind it, the universe stirs. She is cause and effect embodied, Every sunset she makes sets into motion the timing for the next day. She governs the laws of the universe.
9×12 pastel on Sennelier paper This is dedicated to all my sisters on Red Bubble. I am eternally grateful for your gentle wisdom, divine intuition, and massive sense of humor. You all walk the path of the Wise Women, and I am so lucky to get to follow behind you.
Vectorized photo-manipulation with texture layers. The notion that five is a boring number obviously is a misconception :-))
Lady in Red My daughter-in-law was my model for this traditional painting on canvas…. I mixed paint and sand for the canvas background, then took paints and thinned them and used a spray bottle to create the drippy lines. Then finished the painting as a mulit-cultural woman. Painting is 4’ x 2’
For a challenge. Christie is so beautiful outside, but her inner beauty shines brighter than the sun and the moon. It is a joy to know her and call her sister. Love you Christie!! xoxoxo
9×12 pastel on Sennelier La Carte paper Barbara Glatzeder did a portrait of me last week, and when I threatened retaliation she requested I do her as Medusa. So here you go Babsi, hope it looks somewhat like you.

Edited version of a photo by Gaz (with Sony Cybershot 4.1). I am in one of the boats. / It is a ceremony held at the end of the DragonsAbreast Dragonboat Races that were held as part of Chinese New Year at Darling Harbour, 2008. / The ceremony, with breast cancer survivors in the boats, includes a minute silence and reflects on those who have died of breast cancer. It was particularly poingant for me as my best friend from school had been in hospital during the previous ceremony and had since died. / Women who become involved in Dragonsabreast are challenging themselves to gain fitness, friends and live life to the fullest whilst acknowledging those who have lost the fight and increasing awareness to decrease how hard some women have to fight. It is one of the more than 50 ways to help fight breast cancer.
