I was intending to photograph the beautiful combination of yellow forsythia and New Zealand Flax beside a small hedge. When I positioned myself to take the shot this little sparrow hopped on to a branch and started to sing right in front of me, so I shifted my focus to the bird, and still enjoy the pleasing bokeh of the foliage behind. / Panasonic lumix DMC-FZ50 / FEATURED IN I LOVE BIRDS APRIL 30 2009
MORNIN’ SUNSHINE / By: DALE CRUM Twas a most gentle start to the fairest of April days…a sweet twistin’ misty morn…adrift with fluffy fog sittin’ atop the fresh spring blooms… tenderly she kissed each and every one o’ them flowers awake… / When the rising sleepy sun brightly pierced through the quiet canopy of the tallest wise oaks… he could nay help but notice all the wee creatures gathered about a soft hill of ivy… they were whispering one to the other in hushed tones… for in their natural midst there was one still-slumberin’… a wee tiny precious ruby-haired Princess of the man world… twas indeed nay a normal happenin’…the chunky lil’ bunnies were as always the most curious of all… one waddled his belly up, and sniffed of her rosy cheek… and his long curved whiskers did tickle her pouty mouth… she wiped her lips of the ticklin’… as her lovely chocolate eyes did lightly flutter a groggy glance of the gatherin’ critter crowd… not a fear nor a tremble had she one… but only a teensy weensy tiny giggle made the Princess fair… as the wise old horned owl stepped up and leaned in… as always the spokesbird for the reserved rest of the woodland creatures… “Mornin’ Sunshine”, he said with a note of kindness and welcome curiosity…

The name comes from the huge outcrops of slate scattered across the beach, which legend says were placed there by the giant Bedruthan, to be used as stepping stones accross the water. / At high tide they are marroned in the sea like stranded rocky walnut whips.

This is one of the places along Southwold Harbour in Suffolk in the UK that you can get freshly caught fish to take home or eat with in the premises. From Boat to here 30 meters. I really liked the netting draoped against the black wooden building, most of the huts and buildings along the Harbour are black wooden slatted and all jumbled together. D90 Nikon camera set on “P” and Nikkor 18-105mmVR lens Focal length 85mm / F/. 5.6 / Exposure 1/500 sec and + 1 step / ISO 400 Slight level chnage in photoshop and processed through redynamix 1 image HDR software, to slightly lift the textures but nothing else done. / Hand Held DSLR user since Jan 09. *Southwold is famous for its light house, and harbour is known for the fresh fish and chips, and champion catching crab season. It is a seaside resort that has a air of “money about it” beautiful big houses, designer shops and lots of wonderful Galleries. It is crowded in the summer by tourists but quieter in the winter.

I don’t believe that I will ever be able to realise such a photo, even if I have the right equipment. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and life can be very good. It is one of the major Banking and Financial capitols of the world. The National Gallery of Scotland, just behind the sleeping figure, is testament to the fact that the arts and culture are alive and well in this lovely city, but as in every city, there are the misplaced and unfortunate souls who find that there is no place for them and are forced to live out their lives on the streets. Spare a moment, and if you can, spare a little cash to help those less fortunate than ourselves, for there, but for the grace of God, go we all … Taken at The Mound during the very enjoyable redbubble meet in Edinburgh, Scotland on 26th April 09. It was a great day out with a bunch of very talented photographers. For a tighter view of the sleeper, have a look at Beauty Sleep, an excellent image from Rachael Macleod. Check out Rachael’s work, you will not be disappointed. Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi in the USA) BEST VIEWED LARGER Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix. The cycles in life – how everything seems to go in cycles, whether by the moon, the stars, in nature or in life..the great circle of life, going in never-ending cycles over time. I wanted to try a more graphic design image this time and chose this simple fractal model to use as a black picture image (maybe could have been slightly blacker) instead of my usual coloured ones to represent the great circles going in repetitive cycles back into infinite time. /
Here is something I have never done before, used photos from istock (water) and the public domain (Poseidon & Sounion Temple) to create an image I wanted. I wanted to make this as a base for another work, so before it turns into Atlantis, here’s Poseidon’s Temple.

Republished 11-09. Digital collage inspired by the wolf packs that howl at night near my home. I see lone wolves sometimes late at night running across the field behind my house. Coyotes come up closer, right to the back door, searching for food. I live in an area rich in beautiful wildlife which inspires my art and writing and uplifts my spirits each day. :) This work has been FEATURED in the Wolves in Art group AND in the Digital Art Compilations group!
