  • The Old Lady by imageofpix4u

This wonderful old building, a derilect ghost of her former self stands with windows open to the weather, abandoned for decades in downtown Birmingham Alabama. Zooming in to see the details one can see Gargoils and stone work more often seen in European cities. I’m delighted to report that this wonderful piece of architechural artwork is going to be renovated into high rise condominiums provided the recession in the real estate markets doesn’t fold the current funding for restoration.

  • Kids, Don't try this at home. by imageofpix4u

This is Birmingham Alabama’s famous Vulcan Statue. The largest cast Iron Statue of it’s kind, it was a display at the St Lois Worlds Fair. A good position to yield the appearance of the Greek God of the forge sticking a tool into a lamp socket. OK so maybe it is a bit cheesy, but it had been a long day, and I needed some fun.

About This Group

A group for members who live in the great state of Alabama or were born in Alabama…or have a close connection to the state.

IMPORTANT! Photos can be of anything within reason and preferably photographed in Alabama or the subject refers to something in the state. GOOD examples are landmarks, tourist sites, schools and colleges, public events and shows, landscapes, cityscapes, beaches, lakes, rivers, parks, buildings, famous people, etc. Artworks can refer to the same things.

The idea is to showcase what Alabama has to offer in a positive way. People photos are fine IF they show something of Alabama. General photos of kids will be deleted if they don’t include something recognizable about the state. General flowers, birds, animals and sunrises or sunsets will be deleted unless they are very clearly specific to Alabama. If it could pass for just anywhere do not post it here, but find another group where it will be more appropriate to post those. Thank you.
