My Enchanted Island by EarthGipsy
700metres long, 20 Hectares in area, Lady Musgrave is a magestic Island, a coral cay. Capricornia Cays National Park protects eight vegetated cays, including Lady Musgrave. She’s the only coral island on the Great Barrier Reef with a navigable lagoon and while entry’s a bit hairy, once inside it’s to die for! Relax and take a walk at low tide, you’ll discover amazing sea life; jewel-bright starfish, sea urchins, clams, sea slugs and corals. Push off from the shore, or from the pontoon in the lagoon specificaly designed for snorkelers and you’re in an amazing aquarium….........an inverted heaven! Those trees you can see are a wonderful Pisonia Forest and only grow in the calcareous soils of coral cays. They are well adapted to island life (that adaptation comes with the name – Pisonia..lol!). A major seabird resting area from October to April each year while on their very long migrations. Several thousand wedge-tailed shearwaters and noddies gather in the forest to raise their chicks …...it can be pretty noisy at this time of year! The Lady is a very important site for nesting Green Sea Turtles; 450 of these beauties nest here each summer. A much smaller number of Loggerhead Turtles nest here too. I’ve been blown away to swim with them in the lagoon! Access: by boat from either Bundaberg or the Town of 1770. / Facilities: Everything, I’m sure, Heaven has to offer! Shops: No! / Accommodation: Camping wilderness style (max. 40 people at a time). Bring your own fresh water and food and all other supplies. / Tours: Vessels departing Bundaberg and the Town of 1770. The tour from the Town of 1770 offers snorkelling, glass bottom boat rides, fishing and island walks with more time spent at the reef and less travelling time. Note: Cay beaches are not sandy, they are comprised of dead coral…..Ouch!.......you will need shoes Text References: Wikipedia, National Parks and Wildlife Service Queensland Holidays

Little Bear Creek by Nancy Chambers
Taken 12-20-08 at Little Bear Christmas Trees. While we were out cutting our tree. What a beautiful country style Christmas. The Little Bear Country store and it’s owners were very nice people and the feel of the old fashioned country Christmas was soooo there. The hike for the tree, with our lab Bubba, the flowing and frozen river, open campfires, wreathes, and other decorations, kids sledding, and having snow ball fights…just a wonderful place. It’s near Alta California. Funjifinepix S700 / SP ~ snow / as is straight fro the camera

Joyful Fascination by Jayne Logan
FEATURED in The True Beauty Group! My dear friend Katherine observing her daughter as she watches the big floating balloons in utter fascination. The simplest things in life are what matter most. I have never seen my friend Katherine so radiant as she is so in love with her little girl, Olivia Jane, on her very first Birthday. I captured their quiet moment amid the gleeful chaos of balloon chasing and childrens’ laughter. / /

Monkey Mummy by ApeArt
This is me, last week, in Cameroon. I was a surrogate mummy for a while for Bobendina, a little preuss’s monkey. Her own mother was killed by a hunter. Here I am giving her her morning milk. A very special experience. What a dear little thing.

Energy Emissions by C J Lewis
C J Lewis. Mixed media using a photograph as the basis of a pond and myself then added 4 various filters & coloured in Paint.Net and resized in PhotoPlus6. This depicts how I feel most of the time…like a rainbow…connected to the energy of life and emitting rainbow energy of love & peace…have been told my aura, not seen it myself, is like looking at a crystal of many colours when the sun reflects on me at certain angles….apparently :)) She’s Like A Rainbow / MCN:C614E-0DB04-585F7 LIFE It’s strange you know, / That people don’t let themselves go / And do what pleases them most It’s strange you know / When you see a sad face / That really has happiness below It’s strange you know / That people don’t see / Within their heart / Is the place to start For as I see life / It’s beautiful to me / Only because I am free to see That you don’t have to hide / Your feelings away / From he or she / Just let things be… © C J Lewis, Sydney, 1970

Pineapple Drill by ApeArt
I spent some time in December looking after rescued primates at Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon. I love the drill! I took this with my Nikon D50 and new 80-400mm 4.5-5.6 lens, which is a big b*gger to hold without a tripod! The male drill is one of the most colourful monkeys in the world. When he is grown up he has a red chin on a black face with raised grooves exaggerating the shape of his nose. Also, his bottom is pink, mauve and blue! These bright colours help his family follow him through the forest. The drill only lives in three countries: Cameroon’s Southwest Province, South East Nigeria and Bioko Island in Equatorial Guinea. / The drill is Africa’s most endangered primate. A mother drill only has one young every six years, and a hunter can easily kill 30 Drills in a day. They are also losing their forest home

A Favorite Place by BarbaraManis
Sahuarita Lake, Sahuarita, AZ Whenever I need some time out, I take a stroll around this lake. I find it very peaceful, and at the right time of day, pretty quiet. Don’t ask me why I live in the desert, because I love being near water! This lake is not far from where I live… just a short car ride!

My Bike by Timothy Wright
This bicycle has thousands of miles on it. I have owned cars which didn’t take me as far as this has. It’s getting old now and has more stickers showing than paint. I can’t discribe in words the places and emotions I’ve expereanced with this pricless toy.
About This Group
Hello,
Well the true beauty is what it says. If it is beautiful to you then its beautiful. So you can post it on here. The only time I really don’t like you posting works is if it is the same thing that you already posted. But I want everyone to have fun, and take part in this group. It can be a blast.
I change the featured works every Sunday, unless I just don’t get to it. Which I would then do it Monday.
Also, every other Sunday I am going to pick the three-five most active people on this group in which they will be featured, this starts on January first.
**Alight well I am trying to get some more ideas for the next challenge and the prizes. So if you have any ideas on the challenge or prizes please contact me. The challenge does not have to be posted under the the challenge bar. I want to do one for maybe journals and writings, so if you have any ideas please contact me.
Lilly
