This hawk was sitting on an old post ont he side of the road (RedLion Victoria). / We often see them flying above the paddocks and house but rarely do they stay still enough to get any good shots. / If you are able to tell me the name of this hawk (And I dont mean Harry or george…) please let me know. Many years ago, I received a gift from an elderly friend. She wanted to gift me then rather than after she had passed on and everyone was fighting over the “goods” as she would call them. She was a sweet and proper lady full of elegant charm. One of the gifts she chose for me was an antique broach of silver and amethysts. The broach was made in England over 200 years ago. The stones were made from a process using the left over chips from gem stones and re-cut after melting them down. This particular piece has 49 stones varying in size from pinhead to the size of my thumbnail (I have very small hands). It is 2 inches by 3.5 inches in size. I thought it would be fun to photograph and see how it would look on the macro level. I used an old scarf with pink roses on it to add some color. I hope you enjoy my experiment as much as I did. another from the photoshoot for a friend of the family …
Many times we get gifts, but they don’t have the meaning we expect. I think often, the manner in which they are given is more important to our heart and soul. When we know the gift is given by the giver’s heart and soul it touches us more deeply. An example was a friend who had hit on hard times and had no money for a birthday gift for me one year. She had made some apple butter, knowing it was my favorite from apples collected from an orchard. The owner had told her she could have what was left on the trees and the ground since he had harvested all he wanted that he could sell. She and her kids spent hours collecting them. She had gone to the thrift store and bought jars for 5 cents apiece. She then spent hours making the jellies that all her friends liked best. She was embarassed at first because she felt it was so little. I stood and cried because I knew what it meant to her to make this. It was the best apple butter I ever had too. As the years went by, she had better times, but the gift I always enjoyed and treasured the most was that jar of homemade apple butter. She continued making it until she passed away a few years ago. I still delight in the gift every time I take a bite of apple butter, just from the memory even though its long gone. :o)

Hello,
Well the true beauty is what it says. If it is beautiful to you then its beautiful. So you can post it on here. The only time I really don’t like you posting works is if it is the same thing that you already posted. But I want everyone to have fun, and take part in this group. It can be a blast.
I change the featured works every Sunday, unless I just don’t get to it. Which I would then do it Monday.
Also, every other Sunday I am going to pick the three-five most active people on this group in which they will be featured, this starts on January first.
**Alight well I am trying to get some more ideas for the next challenge and the prizes. So if you have any ideas on the challenge or prizes please contact me. The challenge does not have to be posted under the the challenge bar. I want to do one for maybe journals and writings, so if you have any ideas please contact me.
