My darling sis let me play with her camera on my visit. This was one of the first shots I took. it was originally in color, using bright feathers, but I was playing around in Photoshop and tried an action I had saved, and i got this ethereal result. This is hard to photograph because anywhere I was trying to had light that reflected back off it! Trying to capture the colour in the opal was tricky too. / My grandma bought me this lovely Australian Black Opal Pendant in 1980 when I was 12, I have had it put away all this time (29 years) and don’t ever think I have worn it, the docket is with it too, a precious piece of jewelery I will always treasure, my Gran having left this world now, leaving me with this stunning large heirloom Black Opal Pendant, opal being my October birthstone.

As a kid I was obsessed with cowboys. I’d spend the day watching western movies. / I drew this drawing in 1973. Mum kept it. / I love the cowboy standing in his saddle raising his hat…lol / I scanned it into photoshop and used the clone stamp to clean it up a bit. Below you wll see the original: warts and all. / If you look at the top of the drawing you will see where my mum wrote my name and the date.

“Magnolia Portrait” from Smoky Mountains of TN / Photographed in portrait mode because the blooms were so bright in the sun, and I liked the softer tones. Southern Magnolia are grown mostly for ornamental uses. Private Gourley Garden – Tulip Trees are related to the Magnolia, and their are several different types of Magnolia in the Smoky Mountains.
