Sea Creature by Tom Godfrey
I am occasionally asked how I start the crazy pics :) This is my concept sketch for “Sea Creature” / The good-natured sea creature gazes benignly at the nervous Grinners as they swim past, in their usual backwards style. The poison blisters on the Grinners’ backs were fully inflated, as though they expected trouble. Observers in the underwater viewing deck, were making notes. Temperatures had risen alarmingly in the Nglishoop sea and creatures like the Blister-bodied Grinners were stressed as a result of these changes and their response was to remain in defence mode. This was costing them valuable energy though, as it was usually reserved for short fight or flight occasions. They were aware, in their remarkably evolved brains, that something was not right, but nothing in their evolutionary coding had prepared them for anything like this. These brightly coloured underwater imps, were a critical part of the reef biome and the researchers were worried. Although they were terrestrial beings, the observers knew that their lives were inextricably bound to events that occurred in this underwater world. Time was running out…

This is acrylic on canvas, my inspiration was my daughters..I would love for them to be able to look at their reflections and to love what they see…unconditionally.. / The name reflection came to mind easily, so much so that I thought I’d call it something else…however when I looked up the definition of Reflection on the Dictionary site.. / it said:- / reflection, *reflexion [rəˈflekʃən] noun Example: She looked at her reflection in the water; / So I guess it chose it’s own title : ) /

My work was featured in the group Video Montage / ( Thanks Muscular Teeth and Butchart ) Airbrushed and mixed media on canvas Excerpt from “Abigail’s Friends” written by Anthony Hedger illustrated by Carrie Glenn. ...“I think we better go back now.” She whispered to the butterfly. / “Why?” The butterfly asked. “It’s only my friends and they are having a special tea party just for you, come on and I’ll introduce you to them.” / “Er, ok, if you think I’ll be alright?” / “Of course you’ll be alright.” The red fox called to her. “Come on your tea is getting cold.” / So for the next two hours Abigail sat with Mr. Fox, Mr. Bear, Miss Rabbit, Ms. Blue bird and a hundred different butterflies and had tea and cake and chatted as though she had known them all her life. Little Penguin by Gino Iori
/ . / This little fella was swimming in Toroonga Zoo’s expansive Great Southern Oceans exhibit . The new 1.2 hectare exhibit features Australian Sea Lions, Australian Fur Seals, New Zealand Fur Seals, Californian Sea Lions, Leopard Seals, Penguins and Pelicans live in unique displays, emulating their natural habitats and offering spectacular viewing for visitors. Little Penguins seem to ‘fly’ through the water when seen through viewing windows at the bottom of their custom-designed pool where they swoop and glide playfully through the water.
