  • Will There Be Anything Left... by RavenSoul

Wanted to depict the earth being used up and our children’s children being left with a speck to live upon. For the technical part, I used 7 textures and 2 photos. One being the little girl < Kolleen > and the other is a cut out from my lake adventure. I used a radial blur on 2 of the layers for the flying in space effect. Burned a bit more shadow around the child to make her blend better. used the smudge tool around the edges for effect. All Work was done in CS3. / Thank you for looking! Here is a close-up

  • The Imbolic Letter by Glenn Capers

If I lay here in the cold, and close my eyes to where hope begins to stretch across this land. Would I have met you. Would there be hope. Could I get up and walk a straight line without fear. Like the sun, the promise of warmth tingles my skin. The scent of flowers intoxicates the act of dreaming, You are becoming my drug, Tell me how you want me to take you in. I awaken from your letter and vision you. Like the druid that stands and aligns with the sighting stone for Imbolc. You are my fire festival sacred woman. You are symbolic of the point where new life is begins on the eve of Brid from the death of hopelessness. You are my Saint Brigid canonized to sainthood. Glenn Capers Copyright“

About This Group

More than just a pretty picture

.

Here are some great examples from the group that truly exemplify the term “Symbolism in Art”!

Traditional Photography

“Not So Out of reach” by Jenn Ramirez

PhotoManipulation

“The Visit” WanderingSoul Art

Art (sketches and portraiture)

“From the Music of Lola Perrin” by Jedika

Art (non portrait)

“Metaphor for a metaphor “by Karsten Stier

PLEASE NOTE:

Landscapes, flowers, skies etc – either as photos or traditional paintings/drawings will no longer be accepted to the group.
Same goes for shots of architecture… The exception would be a picture where the juxtaposition of elements creates something truly “symbolic” like this excellent shot by Melanie McQuoid

“Filtered” Photos (as in “normal” pictures run through a filter in Photo-editing software) are not Symbolic art in my opinion and will no longer be accepted…Sorry, but there are plenty of other groups for that sort of thing

Abstract Art with no symbolism or “deeper meaning” will no longer make the cut…

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SUBMISSIONS FIT THE GROUP THEME!!!!
