ARTEMIS by Helena Nelson-Reed
I like the concept of Artemis, huntress and Lady of the Moon. She’s independant and goes her own way, unconcerned with what the other deities think, and happy wandering the woodland and meadows with her hounds after the sun has set. This is what part of what Ive written about her: Starlight and moon glow flows in her blood, an elixir of divine energy at the nucleus of every cell. She is Artemis, lunar sister of Apollo, her fiery solar twin. Approach her at summer’s end as autumn harvest approaches, for she’s mellow at that time, and favorable to those seeking favors and blessing. Luminescent with pride, content and preparing for hunting season, she’ll then be resuming her role as female guardian of the hunt, goddess of mothers to be and those in labor. This is her song: “To protect my children, watch over their birthing, nurturing and growth, I nightly traverse the rolling hills, clamber about remote crags, and shine moonbeams into the dense thickets and narrow glens. I sooth the new mother to be, relax her cramping pains. This great bow I carry spans the Pleiades, my slim shafted arrows capable of shooting light years across the solar system in order to strike their mark. Harm one of my creatures, threaten one of my new mothers or their young and beware. Iv’e been working on a range of grail quest images for some time on and off its one of those ledgend that just seem to draw me in each time i return to it and Glastonbury is a place i love to be and now pass through a number of times each year on the way to visit family down in Devon. / Over Yule with all the hussel and bussel of all that happens at this time of year all these images of the grail started popping into my mind and i doddeled them here and there until the madness was over. And this is the first to get to the stage where i’m willing to share it, and as i’ve had such nice comments about seeing my work at the black and white stage. Where i can i will continue to do so. / Here the grail sits at the centre of a maze, with rings flowing out like rippels on a pond, the knoted ring will be white on one side and red on the other representing the two springs. whilst below the grail is the symbol of the challace garden spring. Above the grail i have added in the cressent of the moon and the pentagram locked in its grasp whilst the challace its self is bound in celtic knot work. / I hope you all like it i know it felt inspired as it came together.

Delusions of a troubled soul from my time as a guard at the Forensic Psych Center. I did a whole series of the many ’ types’ of people incarcerated because of their mental instability and afflictions. Here i added a Native Angel because the inmate in this case was native and had delusions of religion and persecution.

Thank you so much to the Pentacle group for including Artemis alongside Fullcirclemama on the feature page! If you havn’t seen her work, check out her mandalas! This is a great way to start off the New Year. Now that we are all in recovery from the Bush Im focusing on a year of healing and positive abundance. I hope all us RedBubblers do well and enjoy some good sales. I am always impressed by and appreciate the interaction and support of fellow members. Even when we touch base once in a blue moon, its a nice surprise and a pleasure. It demonstrates how with a little effort we can make a difference in the lives of others by sharing our insights, humor and experiences as well as technique and inspiration. You are all my teachers and today I honor you for this. Please accept my gratitude and appreciation. Im looking forward to a great new year full of creative surprises and insights from all of us!

Resolutions and Aiming for in 2009 on Redbubble / (This should be done by everyone on redbubble, in order to stimulate everyone and to do his/her best to promote his/her art. I hope that this journal is accepted in every group. This will produce more constructive work both for the individuals and also for the groups) 2008 has passed by and a new year has started. Everyone has his/her own resolutions and aims for the New Year. I will discuss mine with you. Emotions / On several times, I was on the verge of leaving Redbubble, but there was always something that told me NO. Most of this something was YOU : / YOU who bought my card, / YOU who add me to your watchlist, / YOU who favored my work, and / YOU who commented on my work. 2008 / So, with your help, this year I will aim for big!! / During 2008 I had nearly 20000 views(19506) on my art (excluding journals & clothing). / During December 2008 I had over 3000 views, my work was featured 25 times, I was featured 4 times, 2* of my art were used as avatars and I had a *photo featured on the redbubble homepage. 2009 / For 2009 I am aiming for some 36000 views (bringing a total of some 56000). / I am also aiming to sell at least SIX pieces of art. / (all this can only happen with your help). Also, since October, I stared my Monthly Journals where I record all my happenings in the respective month. Another idea that I came with was to create journals which gather together some photos to form a set. In this way, people visiting your page can get a good picture of what you are up to, and instead of one photo, you can sell a whole set:- / Maltese Boats / From the Past / I will gradually continue to increase these number of sets, and I will create a new Journal called Sets which will include a link to alll my sets. Now, YOU - / What are your aims? / What are you expecting from yourself in redbubble during 2009 ? This one is Black Night – the full moon shimmers in a sky clouded in night and darkness. Black clouds swirl and hover at the edges, but nothing can hide the full passionate strength of grandmother moon… My spirit is dark, but the moon, she lights my path…
