Poems of Love and Fear

Robert Knapman

Poems of Love and Fear

There’s a sense
Like an eerie knife through your spine feeling
That creeps from deep
Within
Any dirty midnight city

That makes you turn
Eyes fear locked
Naked, white and shadowed

To face something
Fleshy and scented like over ripe mango
Hovering in the shadows
Under
A red bulb haze

It calls coyly teasing commandingly
In a voice you woke
Soft and warm to

That
Very
Same
Morning
