OMG thanks. I noticed it was on the home page last night before I went to bed. Then today you’ve all just been all over it ;) Wild. I wish my mum could have seen it but she and my dad live in a shipping container (in the coastal hinterland 7 hours south of Sydney) for a couple of months of the year (I just love that story especially since they’re in their late 70’s – they just love life), but she be no hill billy by a long shot. Just their thing and totally inspiring to me. Anyway, I’ll show her this and she’ll be so excited. Luv ya mum ,)

Robert Knapman replied
Hehe thanks Judy. I’d like to think it will get up in the top five but I can’t see that happening yet. There is some great art there. Good luck to you too and thanks for voting for it. Cheers .)
Rachel Leigh
Well you can remove it from the competition but I can still comment on it. Robert, it is lovely. My grandmother played the piano and I inherited her piano at about age 13. I never had lessons but I have loved the piano, I learned to play by ear and then taught myself to read music. I have been composing music now for about 20 years. I want you to know that I voted for this photo. I am disappointed that it was removed. But I still love it, thank you!
Robert Knapman replied
Thanks Rachel. Wow. Thats quite a feat. I would love to have learnt the piano. It really is a beautiful instrument :)) I removed this image from the challenge but decided to re-enter it after all. All power to you too ,)
Maxhamish
An excellent image Robert, I voted for it as well…..and I understand why you removed it, as I removed mine for much the same reason…...best regards…........
Rachel Leigh
okay I voted again Robert but this is your last chance boy! Remove it again and thats that, no more votes from me ;) Thank you doll.
billyboy
Hey Robert! Wasn`t aware that you removed this from the comp, but am aware of the ridiculous business over solicitng votes… don`t know if this had anything to do with why you wanted to remove it, but now that the smoke has cleared I`m so glad you could put all that stuff behind you and reinstate this excellent image. It evokes emotion on so many levels, and it is excellent also on a technical level. I`ve also got a picture in the comp, but I am actually thrilled to be among such wonderful talent as yours. Great decision to get on with the show!!
Robert Knapman replied
Yes the whole thing was out of controll and I didn’t feel like I had a place there any more. It was just so messy and the dramas created a vaccume in my soul so I deleted it – didn’t want to be a part of such a human mess. I then thought differently and reinstated it. I’m really amazed how well it has done (especially after being deleted and then re-uploaded a few days ago). By the way, I adore your image too and imagined it racing to the front page when I first saw it…which it did…fantastic. It reonates with the most incredible power and delicacies. I’m glad you’re there too. The show goes on… ,)
Trevor Fellows
congrats on winning the challenge m8 great shot.
Trev.
Robert Knapman replied
Thanks Trevor. But the honour goes to everyone in this Challenge in this case. In the leader board the top images just kept rotating almost every 10 minutes and mine happened to be in the top position when the gong chimed. So its really a ‘win’ for all of those amazing images too.
There doesn’t seem to be a place / thread / set up yet here to say it – so on behalf of all the winners I have decided to donate the ‘prize money’ to the Art for Aid group here on RB. Any other choice just doesn’t seem right. Its all about community and this is about the best thing I can think of to do to heal the Callenge Cafe a bit and to demonstarte that. When someone wins everyone should win.
Thanks Trevor and everyone else for the opportunity to demonstrate this. An espacially massive thanks to Julie and the rest of the Challenge Cafe hosts. You folk just rock. Deepest respect to you.
Oh and thanks mum for your amazing hands and I hope now you can see the utter beauty in growing old xx.
Peace
Rachel Leigh
Congratulations Robert, while it is true that those top images did a whole lot of moving around I do believe the best one won. Now we need a photo of Dad’s hands playing! Special request… when you see them again. Rachel
Robert Knapman replied
Thanks Rachel and what a great idea. Don’t know when I’ll have the chance but i’ll at least have the camera ready…and I know he’d be in it. Cheers .)
Steve Chapple
Wonderful image, congrats on the win in Challenge…so well deserved!
Robert Knapman replied
Thanks Stephen. You know when you take a picture you never really know the journey it will embark on. Love that .) Cheers
Miriam Dobson
Beautiful and emotive, I love it.

Congratulations, Robert, for your price in “Challenge Cafe.”...totally deserved..!!!
