I’ve spent the last 24 hours trying to find the name of this Australian native plant, commonly known as ‘Billy Buttons’, or botanic name ‘Helipterum Craspedioides’. This image was taken at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens.

    I just love these ,mainly because of the name I think. Kids love names like this! We used to pic kbunches when I was a kid, way back in the 1940 s also heaps of native orchids , no houses in those days. ...now they grow wild in my bush yard .

    This is one of my favorite flowers to use in floral design. In the States we refer to them as Billy Balls and it makes me giggle to say it everytime. Beautiful Photo.
