  • Paul Vanzella

    Paul Vanzellafounder

WOW – I love where you’ve taken this…. almost created a parallel universe here… what is the light A rebirth, an elightenment, something new and beautiful in your world. Creatively speaking this works so well, love the incidental light on the trees and the way you’ve conveyed the depth of field also has a cinemtaic notion to the image! Stunning piece without a doubt for me. Love your control of light and mood. Exceptional work!

Lindsay!!!!! I (not joking) spat out my tea I was so excited when I saw this… where’s that sponge?
I am literally flapping my arms around excited about this image.
Gregory crewdson eat your heart out!
I’m too speachless right now to comment properly, so random bashing on my keyboard will have to do

brilliant work lindsay…. love this! I am a huge fan of crewdsons work and the parallels are obvious… you’ve done a great job of this in post…. which is the only option for those of us who lack the film set funding that crewdson draws… you’ve created a wondeful mood with this shot…. i love it…. just as a little bit of feedback, it’s a shame that the shadows cast by the man don’t match the light source but I’m being picky…

  • Enrico Bettesworth

    Enrico Bettesw...

Great work here Lindsay! love your twist on suburbia… great tones and selective focusing effect… well done!

I don’t know Gregory Crewdson, but being a big fan of Spielberg, I’m looking at this guy totally intrigued as to what his story is… has God selected him to spread the word? Is he about to be beamed up? Is he the only man left in real time after all the clocks have stopped for everyone else?? I love your Sci-Fi treatment and uniqueness of this image. I haven’t seen much quite like it before.

For me this image is all about the unknown, the unexplored, the implied. It tells a fragment of a story and makes us work to fill in the blanks. What happend before this? Where is it going next? Who is that guy? The perspective looks somewhat uncomfortable, voyeuristic, accidental. And that makes me ask, Who am I here? What role am I playing? How did I stumble across this? The enviroment is so familiar and that comforts me but the situation, the action, is surreal and dark and unanswering and I feel this need to know more. The blurred background forces me to look at the figure, the single red car appears a very deliberate choice and that makes me wonder what it could mean, what it could represent. They way that light has been used is brilliant- on the cards, in the background, in the sky, in the title and of course the single streetlight behaving as though it has free will and spotlighting the figure. I just love it, that many questions, the lack of answers. Don’t stop now. I’m on the edge of my seat.

  • Bruce Watson

    Bruce Watson

reminds me of the work of that American photographer who spends a fortune because of the logistics of his shot setups (e.g. getting the fire brigade to flood a street so he can have a shiny road etc.) but you’ve created a similar feel for a lot less money – even though Jennifer Jason Leigh isn’t sitting in a car looking traumatised (as in one of the other photographer’s shots) it doesn’t matter at all.
