Contemplative Mood
I took this picture in my local cafe’ in Cusco…El Cafe Extra !
I was having my breakfast when this man.. el Señor Castro came in !
He is a local and he is a lovely and friendly person always with a big smile !
But I caught him looking at the window for a long while in such a contemplative and sad mood ! I had the time to get my camera and take this photograph ! It wasn’t an easy one..there was not much light and the exposure was 1/20 second ! But I just love his expression !

This is a truely wonderful shot, not only is it well executed in its technique but it also gets you to think, “Why is he there? What is he looking for? Who is he waiting for?” Eliciting thought from the viewer lifts the images’ status in my mind – really well done.

Do you know that I loooooove pictures taken of old men, especially in black and white. And they usually do have this pensive look. I think maybe because what goes first is the short memory and the long memories stay with them. Then you wonder, what is it that they are thinking? Love it.

i know it’s a typically female thing but i’m dying to know what he was thinking about. his expression is so profound, so contemplative. a really fantastic portrait.
