I can’t believe I forgot to comment on this earlier. This is one of my favorites here. No words can describe it, but it’s definitely inspiring to me.

It’s all about the timing! The whispy cloud on the left shows some movement and extended shutter speed which has been used to superb effect in capturing that bolt of lightning.

The bolt itself manages to hold centre stage yet must take up only a small percentage of the actual shot. That’s not down to any minimalism as so much is going on in the shot, it’s just down to the extreme power of it in its otherwise calm surroundings.

The lighting is technically excellent, the way the rocks are lit by that bright non flared moon and the white pin pricked and crystal clear stars just finish it all off to perfection.

Well Stuart I have to say that has to be one of the loveliest comments I’ve ever received. I can’t thank you enough for the time and effort you put into these comments – as far as I’ve seen you are unique in doing this (I’m way too slack myself to do so lol). And combined with “world tours” through other people’s work so keep posting you show an astonishingly generous spirit my friend.

IMHO…I think Geoff Coleman should be photographing scenes for NatGeo…because not even NG has images as spectacular as this…you haven’t missed your calling yet Geoff…your images are way to high in quality to settle for one place! *)~
