Loramae, don’t be too impressed, lol!! When I work in Photoshop, I always work in duplicates … and duplicates of the duplicates. Then, if you do hdr, you need to make two more of your final, then, you’ll get to another final shot, which goes back into photoshop, and gets duplicated!! So, they add up!! Not to mention, in this case, I had a whole different image, the sky, which is where the composite thingie comes in … and it got duplicated … and blended in … so … it might be more than 7, but a lot were duplicate layers. By the way … your comment about the old woman is absolute poetry … and I’m completely honored that my little image brought those beautiful and heart-tugging thoughts to your mind!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Bruce, I agree completely. When I traveled in Greece and Italy and some of the other adjacent areas, I felt such a haunting presence of romance and melancholy and tragedy … and I have the same feelings as I’m watching America’s agrarian lifestyle crumble before my eyes. I have a lot of old barns, in various stages of disrepair, throughout my portfolio … (and more on the computer) ... I just can’t resist them!!!!!

As to the owners, there are so many structures like this around … just hanging on by a thread, really. In so many cases the owners have gotten too old to care for their buildings … and their families have moved away. I think that’s what keeps me coming back to these kinds of scenes, the human tragedy in the loss of the family farm.
