Tony Moore
Great pic Mel, two of my favourite things, water and a moody sky, did you us HDR or is it a straight photo?
vjwriggs
Great pic this is awesome love the grey and wow just beautiful
Mel Brackstone
Thanks Tony and VJ. I used two ND grey grads +9 and +6 for the sky, with tripod and cable release, as well as shot bracketed exposures, Tony. Despite that, I then chose the normally exposed shot to process as a single raw file in photomatix, and then processed in photoshop to convert to monochrome, adding a split tone curves layer at the end.
Leeo
Great mood to this one Mel :)
funkyfacestudio
WOW! what is more powerful the water or the sky? It is absolutely gorgeous :]
Lance Leopold
This sure does it for me Mel,love it!!!

Christina Martin
As a beginner all I can say is WOW!!!!!!
Paul Vanzella
S E N S A T I O N A L – what an amazing mood and feeling in this image. Wonderful work Mel!
Tony Moore
If you decide to take the photo in mono you can also use orange/red filters which will just darken the blues in the sky, makes the white clouds more contrasty against their background.
Mel Brackstone
Thanks Christina, Paul and Tony. There’s no way in the world I’d be that well organised, Tony, that would imply an orderly and disciplined mind…..
melissa spalding
wow!! thats all i can say! im speachless! its beautiful!!
Lui Grande
Fantastic!
TheiaPhotography

Matthew Setright
I love time shots and B/W to top it of you have really done a nice job. What sort of settings and Camerea do you use.
Mel Brackstone
Thanks magic1gal and Matthew. I used a Canon 5D for this, with a 16-35mm lens at 16mm. f/22 and 1/5second, ISO 50
Dot Radley
I love the mood of this shot. The flowing water over the rocks makes lines in the water that are duplicated in the sunrays. Gret composition and black and white tones. well done.
Marie Strydom
IS this an IR photo too. Excellent slow shutter technique. Like the composition here.
Mel Brackstone
Thanks Dot and Marie. Not IR this time, just used a split tone curve layer to add a little colour to the monochrome.
Jeff Burns
An extremely beautiful shot. I even love the name you gave it. Composition is breathtaking.
Charles Dobbs ...

Adrian Kent
Took me an hour to scroll way down here, you deserve it all . Its a marvelous work, love it!
Mel Brackstone replied
Thanks Adrian! You can save all that scrolling by using the link directly under the image, where it says “add a comment”. That means you can still see the image as you comment on it, I find that’s a bonus! Cheers
Stan Wojtaszek
This IS an excellent image. Works really well in b&w.
Thanks for the tip on the add a comment link. Only took me 45 minutes to get to the bottom. Must be easier on the northern hemisphere. I think Adrian has to scroll up (harder to do. lol).
Mel Brackstone replied
prolly got something to do with the air quality :)
Mel Brackstone replied
You can also use the “home” and “end” keys to get from top to bottom quickly :)
Adrian Kent
