Threadless

I have entered a few tees on Threadless.com. This is the response I received on one of them so far…

“Hello Don Brand,

Regarding: ‘Why?’

Unfortunately, your submission was declined.

The Threadless staff has provided the following reason to decline your submission:

We want every design submitted to Threadless to have the best possible chance at being chosen for print. Your submission was declined because we feel your idea could use a little more work to be up to the standard that will give it the best shot. We have a feature called “Critique” on Threadless.com that allows you to have your design critiqued before you submit it for approval. By using the “Critique” feature as a pre-submission tool, you can let the community help get your submission up to par. We’re certain this will help you improve your design!”

I find it interesting that they can determine what is finished or needs work, and what does not. I have looked at the things they have accepted, and the designs they sell, and I am not sure I agree with them. An awful lot of their stuff is the same lame stuff you see on every other site. Here is the design I submitted that received this response…

Himey is as finished as he is going to get. It wasn’t supposed to be complicated, just a simple statement. I will try submitting a few more designs and see what happens. If any of you have submitted anything to Threadless, and have had it accepted, please post it on this thread, so we can see what they are apparently looking for. Thanks.

    what the hell is threadless?

Threadless.com. The make t-shirts. You submit a design, and if they like it, you get $2000, and then $500 every time they do a run of your design.

are you on their mailing list? I get it every Tuesday. It gives the stuff that wins and gets printed, so you can get a feel for what actually gets the $2000 there. And some people, ie me, who don’t do the witty thing feel maybe more comfortable with Designs by Humans, more towards the arty than the witty.

aw mobii.. it’s never nice getting a knockback but i guess that’s the nature of the game. i think your design is pretty rad for what it’s worth. did u ever end up getting anything accepted there?

ps – relax it’s just threadless ;) he he sorry couldn’t resist :P

Ohhh, such a funny girl. No, I submitted a few more things, but none were accepted. “In Crowd” is the best selling thing I have, and they didn’t want that either, so I quit trying. I’ll find my own niche.
