Surgery of a Soul. belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Melbourne & Victoria and WMG

Personality,
Not what it used to be.
I’m conforming my individuality.

I’ve been stolen,
Stripped and sold for parts.
I continue on unroadworthy.
Hoping no-one will notice.

The day will come when I’ll get pulled aside.
Asked to show what goes on inside.
Full of imitations and nothing genuine.
Out in the open with nowhere to hide.

Surgery of a soul In need of repair.
Tiny little instruments used with such care.
A spirit mechanic with a look of despair.

Some things just aren’t worth saving.

    Paul, I love this -

    “I’ve been stolen,
    Stripped and sold for parts.
    I continue on unroadworthy.
    Hoping no-one will notice”

Well-worded indeed. That will stick with me.
Love the concept. Fantastic piece of writing.

I love the metaphor at the centre of this Paul. Aren’t we all just a sum of our parts, forever falling apart and being put together again?

  • Paul Louis Villani

    Paul Louis Vil...

That’s the perfect way of describing the reason behind writting this piece Chris. How many times we are dealt a hand that you think that there is no way back form this situatuion… yet we keep coming back for more!
    Thanks mate!

Paul, I’ve seen your smile, your spirit and believe me this is genuine…I’ve heard your voice caress the lyrics of your heart and mind, believe me this is genuine….I’ve seen your eye take beauty…believe me this is genuine..

Something things – the essence of an individual is worth keeping…

    This poem is wonderfully evoking….

    Paul Louis Vil...

Wow, thanks guys, I’m amazed at your kind and thoughtful comments!
I will be honest and tell you guys a secret (shhhh, don’t tell everyone! ;p! ) most of you have all so eloquently pointed out that you see my inner self coming through in my words and you are right. I draw alot from lifes experiences (as most of us would) but I’ve got to tell you the dilema I have when it comes to posting a piece of writing is almost comical! I’ll type in the text, the extract, the description, the tags and let the mouse hover over the enter button… and there it will wait. I sometimes delete everything fearing what will be thought of me only to come back the next day and go throught the process again! if you are laughing I’m laughing along with you! Posted images are easier, they reflect my artistic drive but perhaps not so much of my hidden soul / persona. I guess because I see words as a reflection of my true inner self, I’m kind of scared of letting you in. I’m sure you know what I mean.
    Sorry for blabbering.
Peace, love and hugs to you all!
Thanks heaps to Mark, Marieancolie, stranger street, Crokus and Googa! :D

This is brilliant Paul, but it makes me sad to think a person could feel empty and broken, of course that’s my interpretation.

  • LostBoy1

    LostBoy1

You betcha!...Rat-Rods are Hot rods put together with bits and pieces from anything that gets the job done…(tractor parts-old aircraft parts)...

some don`t even look road worthy (nor are they)...but people aren`t afraid to use them…they look rough and shag-nasty…rust and primer abound…(bullet holes are highly prized)

A Rat-Rod can be built on the cheap…and turn more heads than some…$50 thousand dollar trailer queen…old skool is COOL!!!

    In my car yard
    You would be a classic
    I would tend to you
    With my oil can
Hold your downcast face in my hands
    Talk to you
Tell you how beautiful I think you are
Will you to peel back the rust
    You cover yourself with
    And you would…
And the rest of the world would see
    What I have always known
    That inside…
    You fucking rev!
    You light up the world
    You light up me.

    Love xx ;)

When it comes to the soul
    it’s always worth saving
    even for that faintest breath
    of you.

I like the mechanic analogy and I can see why this piece got such a huge response PL. It’s crying out for something. I won’t say salvation as I’m not that way inclined at all but maybe one of those floaty ring things. (sorry, not very poetic, it’s late and I can’t think what the buggers are called).

    :o)

Back to the mechanic – I can see him in his white greasy overalls, wings strapped back out of the way, scratching his head and saying he’d have to send away for the parts. LOL.

You make yourself out to be a run of the mill ‘Valiant,’ with push-button controls but you’re a “46” Boat-tailed Roadster. A great analogy to the human condition though… as most of us feel the same way. Write on, Paul, and dare not to hit the delete… as you can’t share your chrome bumpers or dents in the hub-caps with us if you do!
