RedBubble Thursday (and Logo Design For Food)
The Logo
As you’ll remember from this we set Xavier the challenge of redesigning the logo on pain of biscuit deprivation. However the sneaky man went vegan at about the same time just to thwart us. But he still came through with the goods, which now adorn the top of every page for a day or two.
I, for one, think it reeks of awesomeness.

And all he used were these, in fact, only about two of these:

And to show that he’s not wasteful, after the shoot, he then proceeded to make two huge toasted sandwiches, and promptly ate the logo:

He was extremely encouraged by all of your support, and thanks you. However at the time of going to press no one could comment on whether he had scrubbed his feet or not.
The Competition
In other news, the new Compassion competition (and group) has been launched, and Gaia has been closed.
Other things
We didn’t quite finish the other big things we were working on this week, but we’ll have a special RedBubble Wednesday this week (due to Anzac day).
Reminders
There is only one week left before this awesome t-shirt concept disappears forever, go improve your wardrobe.
Your faithful reporters Charles Foster Kane & Justin
Nikki Trexel
very creative! but i’m kind of, deep down, glad it’s temporary! :)

Desiderata is one of my favorite writings, I almost read it at the funeral for my grandmother. This looks like a very nice idea.
jegustavsen
Ha!!!! Great, I love it, it makes me laugh, it makes me hungry, and it makes me think what other food could one do the logo in???? Thanks, enjoyed.
teelecki

KBSImages

Erin Lyall
That’s so awesome.
Cassie Sitnik

Darren Stones

BigFatRobot

Laurie McClave

Wasn’t going to post that but ben jumped in and made it.
Darren, of course. I believe that sandwich also had sweet potato, red onion, spinach and pesto in it. I’ll probably switch back to pumpkin next week which will tide me over until avocados come back in season.
Xavier Shay
frumphood: naturally
kombination: \m/ most likely
Stephen Colquitt
A nice bit of tasty fun guys.
Much better than Google’s efforts to regularly change their logos.
Larry Davis

Cathie Tranent
Great work Xave!! (I’m rather pleased it’s only temporary too!!)
@ Charles. Rosebud

prefer the usual logo, at least this one was recyclable though. which one had the bigger carbon footprint?!!!!!!!!
Christopher E...
im craving a tomato sandwich now! very creative X, a shock to the system tho when not expecting it! lol should have read the redbubble wrap first! lol
reflexio
Vave cheated, he used the same tomato 3 times for the B, and two times for the E.
I think it is appropriate that each and every letter is unique!
Xavier Shay
reflexio, I actually made another B but it didn’t really look like a b so I canned it.
retepk
Novel design. I hope he persists with the veganism.
Zephyrme
I hope it is only temporary … I just got my website finished and really don’t want tomato letters. Funny but not as classy as the original … please bring it back.
Ben Ryan
Next week’s logo will be made with red meat, to satisfy the non-vegans.
Colin Tobin
I was craving a sandwich . . .
. . . but then you had to go and show me your foot.
artyrau
Hats off! for your creative logo.

Angel Ortiz
looks like it say reobubble or reobubce is not lack of imagination
Lam Tran
Marvelous design! Very creative, healthy food awareness, art can be anything, if you but the story and imagination at work!

Mike Emmett
So long as you throw it out before it festers…

TnTPhotoart
Now im wondering what it would look like in Kiwi or Dragon fruit maybe star fruit, Even trying the old food pressed in paint on paper. But me thinks toasted with Brie, walnuts an grapes much nicer combo.
Where did you get the inspiration from just out of curiosity
Les Magee

Cool logo!!
Austin Texas
ZZZZZzzzzzzz
georgiegirl
Brilliant work Xavier… Seeings as you have nothing better to do with your time other than make yummy looking logos for bickies (at least they’re Arnotts!) maybe you could do us a new logo each week? You could slice up red jelly beans next time! Then raspberries, strawberries… or any other red foodstuffs!!
budrfli
ahhh and not a single biscuit was hurt in the process???
:O) nce job??
Scott Ruhs
Nope, don’t like that logo at all, sorry! IMHO if a logo includes the name of the company it should be clear what the name of the company is. That could just as easily be read as REO BUBBLE.
PeterGregory
Nothing wrong with a bit of fun…..but no longer than a couple of days
Mike Emmett
Hmmmm… now that its sat on the bench a few hours… it looks less appetizing… I think twas a fine journal entry, but I’m liking it less as the top of my portfolio…
EOS20
Brings new meaning to “Eating your words” doesn’t it! :P
Faizan Qureshi
That logo scared the crap outta me this morning!!!!
Chris Cohen
sorry, NO!!!! can’t help it – for me it jusn’t work. i’m with mike emmett (above) it doesn’t look good at the top of the page. it’s like lots of my photos; nice idea, good try – didn’t work!
Sophie Shapiro
I prefer the fresh crisp design. Very difficult to read for people who have dyslexia! Just a point you might like to consider!
LostBoy
Thats not permanent…IS IT?
Mike Savad
not to be insulting, but that’s the ugliest thing i’ve ever seen. hard to read, not professional. i think there are better things to concentrate on.
—-Mike Savad
Roland Schicht
Eat it!
Juilee Pryor
ha ha talk about eat your own shorts….. wonderful bit of whimsy…... well done…..
Roland Schicht
OK! I know it was meant to be funny. I can be funny too…as I said before “Eat it” and see the result next day. Hey! Bingo!
Crowmanic
Am pleased to know its a bit of “fun”. Isn’t it??
Barbarosa
THIS IS MY COMMENT ON YOUR NEW LOGO THAT I DONT¨T WRITE TWICE

Clever but I just don’t like it as a banner !
Adrian Jeffs
Quick put it in the recycle bin before it stinks up the whole site….
Roslyn Lunetta
:D well done, funny bit to wake to the morning and you also see that people so look at the logo.
LoneAngel

Ed Michalski
I guess it proves the overused phrase, “will work for food”
gillsart

The logo looks like something promoting healthy eating!
“A tomato a day, Keeps the creative block away” :P
hoboannie
Hey, it’s all about creativity here at the RB, a little fun at the top of the page is no skin off my tomato!
M Malicki Beser
well good job :D
cinderella1225
I love it! Very creative….and healthy too! :-)
kseriphyn
If this is not an innovative twist of a salad logo. I wondered what the logo was made of at first. Never thought tomatoes were artistic pieces of fruit. Well done.
Sarah261226
fantastic logo – very environmentally friendly too :)
George Lenz
it’s not very professional for a top of the line site like this… especially after winning Webby award..I hope they get real and hire a pro to design a new logo…. if they need one…. what was wrong with the old one?
Xavier Shay
TnTPhotoart: I think about food. A lot.
Now excuse me I need to go and get breakfast.
Damian
LOL, cool idea! I’ve enjoyed the change of scenery at the top :)
So, who’s the next RB staffer who’s going to be put through their paces for a speed logo?!
Darren Stones
For those who are concerned about the new logo, this crew is about to save Redbubble.
Sarah McKoy
The new temporary logo is very unique… I HATE it. But it did reek of creativity. As for Darren Stones commentary—Funnnny.
Dr Woo
this is an outrage! we pay thousands of monopoly dollars to be profiled on redbubble for some shady fruit to take the lime light. Please do one out of battered savs !
Virginia McGowan
yeigh I love fun! Weigh tew gow,I am only goighwing tew have won chance of life on Eieaght

Beau Ravn
Hehe! Ok Xave … next challenge, hmm … now repeat it using the nice, ripe AVOCADOS you are waiting to come into season.
Actually, having said that, did you know that Avocados, organic chocolate (or carob), and rice syrup (or honey if you’re into bees bums), all mixed through a blender make a really great base for a cool vegan version of chocolate mousse!!!! YUM!!!
