How far do you climb?
At what cost?
Do you fear the assent?
or descent?
Do you climb at all?
What prevents you from climbing?
or climbing further?

Many will notice that the falling figure is not me
I wanted the work to remain generic
however it is my mouth

    TG,

I must tell you about a ‘trip’ I made in my early college days. I was feeling like what it must have been like to be Hitler in his early days. The adulation of masses of people hailing “Seig Heil!”. Everyone of millions of live spirits all in love with me at once. It was like you painted up in the sky. But, then it all flipped negative. I wasn’t just an open mouth. It was a recrimination hell with all those millions of spirits now spitting and chastizing at the same moment that I had opened my heart to drink in all their praise and love. And, it was a free fall, just as you drew it; uncontrollable, like being turned inside out. Amazing. I hadn’t thought of that experience for – well – for almost 40 years. The places we’ve seen and been to. Some not so pretty. Thanks, TG.

  • ToastedGhost replied

Yes the mind can lead us on some extraordinary journeys
Worlds beyond beuaty and worlds beyond hell.
I have never had such a dream as to compare with yours. The only one that comes close, though there was on bitter ending, was when I was 14 and outside my bedroom a que of girls had formed and they all wanted to ‘spend’ time with me. Never had that dream agian but I often wished I would.

i fear success, because i know what i am capable of when i have it…

with success may come wealth and with wealth i would end up dead no doubt…overindilgeance is a real bitch.

anyways im half talkin out of m y ass..really you dont have to be wealthy to be successful i know that…i have the fear of failing, so i dont even attemp half of the i should or dream up…

  • ToastedGhost replied

A Brazilian director “Augusto Boal” describes these action as the “Cops in the head” our own censors are stronger than anything else. They pretend to look after us… No, no… don’t go for that job you are bound to fail so don’t do it

A Babel Tower, designed for “getting to the sky” and eventually “see God”
Absence of prespective and above all a lack of knowlledge on “spaciousness”..
“what is down.. so it is up” and viceverse.
I can feel the Babel Tower made with words… The Verb not as an energy but as a device, that created ideology and “success” is one of them…ideologies…
Lao Tse…or even Jesus put it clear.
    “To triomph isto fail”
“The last ones will be the first ones in the heave’s Kindom”
    Yes… I see the paradox..but a paradox is healthy…and there cannot eternal climbing…sooner or later…the failure will come…
    And thank’s god….it will.
Rosa (I like very much the work, TG…much in your surrealist-overrealist-transrealist syle)

I HAD TO FAVORITE THIS IMAGE. I’VE CLIMBED THE LADDER MORE TIMES THAN I CARE TO THINK. I’VE ALSO FALLEN OFF OF IT, ONE MORE TIME THAN I’VE CLIMBED IT. NOW, LIKE A FILLING IN A TOOTH, I STAY TUCKED AWAY QUIETLY, OUT OF SITE, OUT OF MIND. I DO WHAT I CAN TO STAY AFLOAT AND KEEP FIGHTING MY DISABILITIES, BUT THEY ARE STARTING TO WEIGH ME DOWN TO THE POINT OF NOT MAKING IT UP ON THE BOTTOM RUNG OF THE LADDER ANYMORE. VERY INTERPRETIVE…........ DID YOU HEAR THE ONE ABOUT THE DIXLEXSIC AGNOSTIC? HE WASN’T SURE IF THERE REALLY WAS A DOG. BOB :)

Fabulous idea. Personally I have to think about the impact of the mouth directly. The power of words, honest or not honest, can sometimes be underestimated and pushes yourself or someone
higher or lower on the ladder. But that’s more society orientated..

  • Tony Ryan

    Tony Ryan

Think that the fear of success could be about childhood rejection. I think when we are little that we are so excited by everything that failure is not an option. However when we are first hurt by loved ones it can be devestating. Then for many it is easier to not have expectation and if success was to be hoped for it could raise expectation and unconsciously touch on the pain felt long ago. Could be way off the mark but felt to write anyway.
