Cathedral of Basil the Blessed, Moscow, Russia / WORLD HERITAGE SITE / The Cathedral of Intercession of Theotokos on the Moat (Russian: Собор Покрова пресвятой Богородицы, что на Рву), popularly known as the Cathedral of Basil the Blessed, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral erected on the Red Square in Moscow in 1555–1561. Built on the order of Ivan IV of Russia to commemorate the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan, it marks the geometric center of the city and the hub of its growth since the 14th century. / The building’s design, shaped as a flame of a bonfire rising into the sky,[6] has no analogues in Russian architecture: “It is like no other Russian building. Nothing similar can be found in the entire millenium of Byzantine tradition from the fifth to fifteenth century… a strangeness that astonishes by its unexpectedness, complexity and dazzling interleaving of the manifold details of its design.” The cathedral foreshadowed the climax of Russian national architecture in the 17th century but has never been reproduced directly. /

The town takes its name from a temple erected in the roman times in honour of Venere Ericina, on the promontory where the church of San Pietro now stands. It is said that the little church of San Pietro, which is located on the promontory overlooking the Island of Palmaria, was built over the ancient temple of Venere Ericina, or over a slightly less ancient Palaeo-Christian church. In 1256, Portovenere helped Genova to reclaim Lerici from Pisa, and the church was said to have been erected as a thank-you from the Genevans. Built in the genevan-gothic style, the church was finally completed in 1277. The building consists of two parts; a twin lancet bell tower built of chequered black and white stone, and a rectangular building topped with a semicircular apse. The two areas are united by two pointed archways. The interior features a vaulted wooden ceiling and a presbytery divided into three chapels and covered by a pointed cross-vault ceiling.

Church of San Carlo The church of San Carlo was consecrated to San Carlo Borromeo by Carlo Emanuele I and was begun in 1619; in the façade, projected in a later period (1834), the tympanum is decorated by a bas-relief in marble portraying Emanuele Filiberto communicated by San Carlo (by Stefano Butti). The bell tower (1779) is a square plan and the bell tower cell has an octagonal dome. The inside, with a longitudinal plan, has got a single nave with two bays with cross vaults, with two chapels for each side. The first chapel on the left, of the Addolorata, is a work of art by Tommaso Carlone, like the chapel of San Giuseppe (about 1656), which stands in front of it.
Sitting Buddha statue in the Sukhothai Historical Park in northern Thailand. / Sukhothai literally means – Dawn of Happiness The Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Sukhothai was the capital of the first Kingdom of Siam in the 13th and 14th centuries. It has a number of fine monuments, illustrating the beginnings of Thai architecture. The great civilization which evolved in the Kingdom of Sukhothai absorbed numerous influences and ancient local traditions; the rapid assimilation of all these elements forged what is known as the ‘Sukhothai style’. Ramakrisna would embarrass his disciples by getting out of carriages to worship the feet of prostitutes as the Divine mother taking on the lust of unsatisfied men in holy, healing work. Jesus saw the humility of Magdalen and revealed the sinners to be equally the customers and condemners. Mary Magdalen inspires me with her self-possessed sexuality which can teach the feminine mysteries…to share intimate love and acceptance. She is depicted cleansing in solitude in the morning reclaiming herSelf . To me, her Divinity is her humility, so I have shown her on her knees, while utterly sovereign unto herself. She does not appear in classic Christian saint cards, so I hoped to paint her in that iconic style. Oil on canvas – 35cm x 45cm available for sale
This is a section of the shielded harbour of Collioure in the south of France. “La mer” means “the sea” and it sounds just like “La Mère” which means “the mother”.The great Goddess was once thought to be bourne out of the sea, her name Inanna or Venus!! In direct contact with the water here in Collioure is “Notre Dame des Anges”, again confirming the relationship and the devotion to her as the Great Mother..

A deep cave in the Gorge de Galamus has been used as an heremitage and a church. Nearby there is a well where has been placed a kneeling Bernadette meeting the Holy Mother. Small votive sculptures are placed on natural shelves of the cave walls. This is one of them. Many stone plates along the walls with the word “merci” bear witness of prayers fullfilled.

Preaching fire and brimstone and the coming of the end of times at the top of his lungs in the courtyard of the Alamo. I can appreciate his passion but identify the hypocrisy in which he delivers his message. The delivery as explained by John the Baptist to Jesus was to be compassionate and loving to all, even those who would disavow you. This Street Evangelist is not doing those on the cusp any good is he? Don’t we already live in such a fear based society? Isn’t there an old adage that states “You can catch more flies with honey then with vinegar” The example is love, love of all. / Love is not fear, love is not condemnation, love is not judgement, Love is freedom, not the shackles of discrimination and hypocrisy. So perhaps we should pray for him if we know the rules? Who’s to judge? / Who’s really worthy? / Who are you? I will place this shot in the Religious groups as well to see if they walk the walk. What is a belief if it cannot stand before honest debate? It is not attack unless you believe it to be, I will say that is not my intent, merely to reflect and evaluate our systems of morals and dogmas My questions are merely another form of art, they have design intended for the viewer, to evoke thought and consideration for others.
