83 year old pilot conducting some pre-flight checks in the de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk, while his wingman ensures the radio is set properly. These are the types of shot I just wished I would take more of. I am beginning to see the value of the human aspect of photography. Taken with Nikon D200, Nikkor 24-120mm lens, post-processed with ReDynaMix for slight HDR effect, Dodge and Burnt in CS3, and final Digital Lightroom edits. Check out this slideshow I created from that day This image is currently on display at the Walls Fine Art gallery in Downtown Norfolk, VA.
Couldn’t resist another visit to Bell’s Beach at dawn this morning to have another crack at the huge surf – and I wasn’t disappointed! It was still powering away. / No HDR tweaking – just some levels adjustment and slight colour correction. Mother Nature did the rest. / Nikon D300 with 70-200 1:2.8G lens and 1.7x extender. /

Canon 20D – 17-40mm L – 17mm – 1s – f/11 Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Upper Antelope Canyon, called Tse bighanilini, “the place where water runs through rocks” by the Navajo, is the most frequently visited by tourists, due to two considerations. First, its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Second, beams (shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings in the top of the canyon) are much more common in Upper than in Lower. Beams occur most often in the summer months, as they require the sun to be high in the sky. / In the same series: / / / This image has sold 12 times, including multiple Framed Prints, to some unknown buyers from RedBubble.
Thank you Primate Art for taking such an interest and such a love of my work in Japan on these lovely animals. I was very fortunate to have come across this place and even more fortunate to try and work out how to get them from where I was staying in the area. The expressions are of course, one of main reasons for photographing these animals. There is the ‘cute factor’ but there is also the ‘emotional factor’. Its the task of the photographer to grab the ‘thoughtful expression’ rather than a ‘sad’ one. Sometimes its the comical one. Deep In Thought was a photographic triumph of years of ‘average amateur photography’. Its the shot of a lifetime of sometimes near misses and out of focus and clipped from frame shots. Its a just reward :o) to be shared with other photographers who can then think – I want a shot like that and I aspire to get it. / Not as a matter of saying I am great, rather that ‘enthusiasm starts the race, / but perserverance ENDS IT. Good luck to all RB, enjoy photography and get the / rewards of your time and effort. Mine with a Nikon D80.
One of those mornings when a photographers’ dream seems to fulfill itself. A few of you sure will “see” right through the title on this image. One of my alltime favorite places to photograph, the Whaleheadhunt Club in Currituck, NC. Best viewed in Large format.

A morbid history of St. John’s… the hill in the background is known as Gibbets Hil, it is where all the criminals were hung in public executions. The body of water at the base of the hill is where the executioner would throw the bodies when they were dead. The pond is known as “Dead Man’s Pond”. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

This is a group for photographers and graphic artists who are either currently available to undertake commissioned work, or those who feel they are ready and able, or aspire to be shortly.
The group maintains and publishes a list of its members their contact details, websites etc, and encourages members to exchange website links, tips, techniques and ideas pertaining to their areas of expertise or interest in the groups forums. We are constantly looking for ideas and opportunities to promote our members businesses outside of Red Bubble and welcome suggestions from our members.
The group’s gallery is used as a showcase for all of its member’s FINEST work. For this reason we ask that if you are unsure about a particular image you wish to submit then it is probably best to submit it for critique in the group’s forum FIRST, where other members can give honest and objective critique.
Thus the whole group becomes a directory of Photographers and artists that are available for hire and a sample of their work is available to view.
Membership of this group is by invitation only. People wishing to be considered for membership must apply via bubble mail Your portfolio will be reviewed and if your work is considered to be of a consistent and commercially marketable standard then you will be invited to join the group via bubble mail.
Please note: The group currently has a long waiting list of applicants; therefore your application may take some time before it is considered. Please be patient.
