This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before she realized she wasn’t interested in tulips. / Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, with a Canon 20D. A female Rufeous Hummingbird hovering over a Red Hot Poker while bather in the golden light of the setting sun. I like this image because it is the only one I have ever taken where the hummer turned and made eye contract with the camera.

A couple of baby Great Horned Owls nearing maturity bide their time on a branch in the shade just weeks before they take their first flying lesson. I wonder who will take control of the nest next year though. Shot on Hutchinson Island, Florida.

The roseate spoonbills are back after a winter hiatus. I caught several in flight over the rookery and decided to do a different kind of collage, this one an overlay of five different images. It’s something new for me, an experiment, a flight of imagination if you will. Hope you enjoy it. I took these photos in Iberia Parish, Louisiana.
Today after work I went looking for Osprey’s and of course did not find them, so I jumped over this reservoir fence and found these 2 Sandhill Cranes grazing. Sat on them for an hour and they did not fly, hence the title. But for awhile I felt they were waiting for me to fly away…LOL
