Featured in Western United States Artists and Photographers / (Thanks Karön Melillo d’Vega The original is 42×32 in acrylic and mixed media (including metallic and porcelain paint) on canvas; sealed with wax. / In this piece my attempt was to create riveting color combinations and captivating eye movement. I used a variety of mediums to achieve a wet and dry look. Select portions of the canvas appear as wet paint and dramatically contrast the airy and light spaces, which does seam to make the “color float.” This was a commissioned project designed as a focal point to tie all of my client’s glass artwork collection together perfectly. My client was thrilled with the outcome and receives many generous compliments on this bold work. / Original SOLD / For commissioned work you can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /

Picasso fans will recognize this as similar to “Girl Before A Mirror”. It was of course insired by that painting. This was done in blue and green colored pencils… it very much expressed how I was feeling at the time I did it.

This work was produced on a gessoed wooden panel. I have had this work in my head for many years and recently was able to start and complete it. I first laid out the basic grid, and the basic eye shape with pencil. Then I used various sized and colored acrylic and glass doll eyes, which were made into half spheres (so they could be glued to the flat surface of the board). I painted in a mixture of undertones and colors to each eye, expressing different flesh tones. Then I refined some details of shadow and highlight within each square. My final step was to use different colors of paints and india ink to drip from each eye, expressing fluid teardrops. The concept behind this work pertains to the universality of all human emotion (both pain and joy), yet defines the relativity of personal emotions. It expresses the notion of a mixture of individuals who experience emotional pain, spiritual pain, internal and external conflicts, and even the different causes and natures of joy. The work really came together and fulfilled the conceived inspiration (from within my heart and mind), coming to fruition in the physical result. Now I can move on, and possibly create other works of similar productions and concepts. The dimensions of the original panel are 30in. X 14in. It was produced in 2008.

A recent oil on canvas…again exploring ‘cubism’ in landscape. Beloved gaze in thine own heart, / The holy tree is growing there; / From joy the holy branches start, / And all the trembling flowers they bear. / The changing colours of it’s fruit / Have dowered the stars with merry light; / The surety of it’s hidden root / Has planted quiet in the night; / The shaking of it’s leafy head / Has given the waves their melody, / And made my lips and music wed, / Murmuring a wizard song for thee. From W.B. Yeats…”The Two Trees”.

A small painting in oils done in the cubist style.

This work was produced primarily with acrylics on a canvas sheet. I drew in the form with graphite, then painted some areas with white (which blended with the graphite to create a grey tone). I outlined the refined form with india ink, and then painted the entire work with layers of acrylics. I used a soft white pastel for highlighting after most of the painting was done, and blended it with my finger. The dimensions of the canvas are 20in. X 16in. It was produced in 2008.

Oil on Canvas 106 (w) x 115cm (h) What an attraction to this piece signifies according to ‘Colour Science’: An attraction to this piece speaks of the desire for balance or completeness of the self. Completion first comes through accepting your reflection, seeing all beauties, all flaws, and accepting them as you. It means seeing and accepting both the masculine and feminine energies within you and finding balance within the self. The internal peace that comes with this becomes a great force of attraction. The work also tells of the attracting force between soul mates – opposing forces of masculine and feminine energies force you to face eachothers’ differences and helps heal unbalanced forces within you. You are likely to prefer a partner who can communicate with you honestly, force you to face your shortcomings, and help you evolve as an individual although together. You become each other’s balancing force. For more information on Colour Science, contact Leni Kae. You can take a kitty out of the jungle, but seldom can you take the jungle out of the kitty. This is a portrait of my cat Yikes. He reigned as royalty and yet much to his chagrin, his dinner came out of a box. So at mealtime, under all his purple robes of dignity, he would disguise himself in the shape of a food bowl, and proceed to hunt and overtake every morsel, affording them little hope of escape. As you can see he was an over achiever! Cubism provides the perfect framework and logic, to this cat’s peculiar contortions, along with dark cool blues and purple to reflect his uniquely kingly attitude. About this Original: sold / Size: 11×11 / Sub strait: 140 lb Bristol Vellum / Media: Color pencil, and marker / Style: Modern Cubism, abstract, representational

cubism – information provided by wikipedia:
Cubism was a 20th century art movement, pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, that revolutionized European painting and sculpture, and inspired related movements in music and literature. The first branch of cubism, known as Analytic Cubism, was both radical and influential as a short but highly significant art movement between 1908 and 1911 in France. In its second phase, Synthetic Cubism, the movement spread and remained vital until around 1919, when the Surrealist movement gained popularity. In cubist artworks, objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstracted form—instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist depicts the subject from a multitude of viewpoints to represent the subject in a greater context. Often the surfaces intersect at seemingly random angles, removing a coherent sense of depth. The background and object planes interpenetrate one another to create the shallow ambiguous space, one of cubism's distinct characteristics.RedBubble is a great place to find art, design, photos and writing from over 80,000 talented people.
