My painting “Color Floats” was officially published in Artists of the West coffee table book in 2005. / Featured in Abstract Art / (Thanks Everyone!) Featured in Western United States Artists and Photographers / (Thanks Karön Melillo d’Vega The original is 42×32 in acrylic and mixed media (including metallic and porcelain paint) on canvas; sealed with wax. / In this piece my attempt was to create riveting color combinations and captivating eye movement. I used a variety of mediums to achieve a wet and dry look. Select portions of the canvas appear as wet paint and dramatically contrast the airy and light spaces, which does seam to make the “color float.” This was a commissioned project designed as a focal point to tie all of my client’s glass artwork collection together perfectly. My client was thrilled with the outcome and receives many generous compliments on this bold work. / Original SOLD / For commissioned work you can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios My painting was also chosen as a part of the Painters In Modern Times “Best of Showcase” works. “Three Susans”, is a testament to the beauty of autumn’s, Black-eyed Susans. It seems the blooms never really decide whether to be yellow, or orange. But in the end it doesn’t matter… they are gorgeous. Three Susans, is done on watercolor paper. The basic color scheme is painted in with watercolor and markers, the finishing is done with color pencil. I used many shades of purple for the background that lends the piece a startling, yet strangely subtle contrast. oil paint on canvas
Oil on canvas. Still life in ‘cubist’ style.
Picasso fans will recognize this as similar to “Girl Before A Mirror”. It was of course insired by that painting. This was done in blue and green colored pencils… it very much expressed how I was feeling at the time I did it.
It is always the Chase with Spot, the conquest is secondary. But then again they had it coming, first the mouse ventured out for that last forbidden morsel, and of course Tabby just could let the opportunity pass…well then the rest is history as they say. What is not shown, as it was too graphic for the housekeepers it what lies on the flip side of this picture…the mess. Some things are better left unseen! About this painting: / Size 14”x15” / Media: color pencil, metallic marker / Material: 140 lb Bristol / Style: Modern Cubism / Original Status: SOLD

This work was produced on a gessoed wooden panel. I have had this work in my head for many years and recently was able to start and complete it. I first laid out the basic grid, and the basic eye shape with pencil. Then I used various sized and colored acrylic and glass doll eyes, which were made into half spheres (so they could be glued to the flat surface of the board). I painted in a mixture of undertones and colors to each eye, expressing different flesh tones. Then I refined some details of shadow and highlight within each square. My final step was to use different colors of paints and india ink to drip from each eye, expressing fluid teardrops. The concept behind this work pertains to the universality of all human emotion (both pain and joy), yet defines the relativity of personal emotions. It expresses the notion of a mixture of individuals who experience emotional pain, spiritual pain, internal and external conflicts, and even the different causes and natures of joy. The work really came together and fulfilled the conceived inspiration (from within my heart and mind), coming to fruition in the physical result. Now I can move on, and possibly create other works of similar productions and concepts. The dimensions of the original panel are 30in. X 14in. It was produced in 2008.
Sold on April 4, 2009 as a matted print on bright white. /
I’m not sure about this one so I’d like your feedback, please. / / These steps are located in Darling Harbour, Sydney. They are one of the many water features in the area. / / It was really hard to get a good shot of them…this was the best one that I could come up with. It was a really bright and hot day so I used a polarising filter, an ND4 filter and an ND8 filter to try and get a longer exposure. / / Camera: FujiFilm FinePix S7000 / ISO200 / f/8 / 1/5 sec exposure / On my hands and knees getting strange looks from lots of tourists who were just prepared to stand over them and snap away..lol / / / /

Oil on canvas.30”x40”
A small painting in oils done in the cubist style.
A recent oil on canvas…again exploring ‘cubism’ in landscape. Beloved gaze in thine own heart, / The holy tree is growing there; / From joy the holy branches start, / And all the trembling flowers they bear. / The changing colours of it’s fruit / Have dowered the stars with merry light; / The surety of it’s hidden root / Has planted quiet in the night; / The shaking of it’s leafy head / Has given the waves their melody, / And made my lips and music wed, / Murmuring a wizard song for thee. From W.B. Yeats…”The Two Trees”.
“Blue Rose” is an original, signed mixed media painting on canvas by artist Michael Arnold. This painting uses texture and unusual colors to evoke emotion from the viewer. / Michael Arnold Art
Love Me Love My Cat, is a cubism style drawing, about the relationship we girls have with our cats. Your know who you are. Need I call you out?!! This piece is done in colored pencil and markers. Color pencil is applied in many translucent layers resulting in a deep, vibrant color saturation that resembles that of an oil painting.
You can take a kitty out of the jungle, but seldom can you take the jungle out of the kitty. This is a portrait of my cat Yikes. He reigned as royalty and yet much to his chagrin, his dinner came out of a box. So at mealtime, under all his purple robes of dignity, he would disguise himself in the shape of a food bowl, and proceed to hunt and overtake every morsel, affording them little hope of escape. As you can see he was an over achiever! Cubism provides the perfect framework and logic, to this cat’s peculiar contortions, along with dark cool blues and purple to reflect his uniquely kingly attitude.
