STALKING TIGER Slowly through the grass / The tiger stalked his prey / His movement long and languid / In the middle of the day / The sun was high and bright / As a vivid burning orb / His body moving slowly / Less heat there to absorb / Gazelles were moving fitfully / Around the waterhole / Nervous eyes were flitting wildly / As the world they did behold / A movement in the distance / And the animals did jump / The nerve ends all a jangling / Each one with quivering rump / Then like avenging angels / The tiger now does pounce / Gazelles are scattering wildly / With a death like spinning dance / And one of them is slower / No longer held at bay / The tiger now triumphant / As it finishes its prey Phil Sanders (aka Brummieboy) / 5/4/07 Thanks for the wonderful poem Phil!

This was my 2nd digital painting. I painted this in Photoshop Elements – from a blank file. :) It took several hours (about 16 I think)- about 5 hrs just on the eyes! :D

Scarification is a means of permanently marking the skin by cutting alone, without the use of pigments. The scars may be lighter or darker than your original skin tone and may raise up (keloid scarring). There are many ways to produce a scar but the cut must always penetrate the dermis if a scar is to be produced. The result depends as much on your skin as the method used. Black skin in particular is very good at producing pronounced keloid scars and this is a popular alternative to tattooing for people with very dark skin, for whom a tattoo might not show up very well. In many parts of Africa these scars are marks of beauty and a way to identify someone belonging to a particular group. Scarification also may mark one’s status as a civilized being, adult, or member of a specific ethnic group or initiation association. I spend a day in his school in a remote village of Benin to work on the Art in All of Us activities (www.artinallofus.org). I had really a great time thanks to the kids creativity. Sales of this Design? – 3 sales so far :) / ‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Nancy, Patsy, Ellen and Red Dog is a mixed media production. I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. The original painting was just auctioned for charity recently. This work was also inspired by the _‘Legend of Red Dog aka The Pilbara Wanderer’, as is ‘Where is Red Dog’. Red Dog was an adventurous dog who seemed to belong to an entire community. / When his soulmate John died, Red Dog searched for him for the rest of his days, that’s loyalty for you! This painting depicts the time Red Dog’s search for John took him all the way from the dusty outback to Cottesloe Beach, with the girls from his hometown hot on his tail…... If you look closely you can see the tips of Red Dog’s ears way out past the breakers!
