  • Forever and a day....
    by Angie Rodrigues

    US$3.99–US$28.50

This is an acrylic painting of some wolves. I am trying to be very expressive and colorful with my paintings. This one is full of bright color and bold strokes! This painting represents the plight of these animals. The blood red background signifies the bloodshed wolves have endured over the centuries. The white line pulsates with life and then flatlines, representing the death of the animals and extinction if we do not protect what is left. Parts of the wolves fade away, the leg and a tail….they are disappearing before our eyes…....

  • Have just returned from a marvelous week studying fauve style painting in oils with the very talented Paul McCarthy. What a week it was! Paul is the original court jester and we had a stream of students from other classes at Grafton Artsfest wandering in to investigate the laughter emanating from our group. 50 tutors and 6 days of mayhem- gotta love that! / This still life was set up on the classroom floor, was around 1.5 metres across, and we all painted just a part of it. I always thought still life was a s boring as batshit- but WRONG!!!! / The bit that really did my head in was that the class was held in the very art room where I realised during high school that I am an artist….. 32 years ago.

fauvism – information provided by wikipedia:

Les Fauves (French for The Wild Beasts) were a short-lived and loose grouping of early 20th century Modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational values retained by Impressionism. While Fauvism as a style began around 1900 and continued beyond 1910, the movement as such lasted only three years, 1905–1907, and had three exhibitions.[1]The leaders of the movement were Henri Matisse and André Derain.
