This is a question I see on a regular basis in the forums; sometimes in the journal entries as well. I know that RB has posted this information in the forums, though for most new people it’s difficult to find. When you run a search from “my bubble” it doesn’t pick up forum threads, and if you aren’t a forum watcher (or don’t know the forums are there) you don’t even know you can search there. For anybody looking for the base information for required image sizes, the forum thread to see is in The Learning Centre Forum – FAQ listing posted by Peter What the post doesn’t tell you is that the various print sizes differ from image to image, based on the uploaded size of your image. Below are the minimum redbubble required pixels for printing, as well as 3 images of my own showing the uploaded pixel size, and the resulting printout size at redbubble. I hope this will help give an idea of what you’ll get from the image size you have. NB: if you have images that aren’t large enough for what you want, please see the end of the post for help redBubble Minimum Sizes for Prints Cards: 1300 pixels X 900 pixels Small prints: 1600 pixels X 2400 pixels / Med. Prints: 2160 X 3240 pixels / Large prints: 2560 pixels X 3840 pixels Posters small: 2500 pixels X 3500 pixels / Posters medium: 3500 pixels X 5000 pixels / Posters large: 5000 pixels X 7100 pixels Clothing: 2400 pixels X 3200 pixels Here are 3 of my uploads with the uploaded pixel dimensions, and what I can print from them: Strokes of the Lily (uploaded size 4200 X 5067) Cards / Matted Prints 9.6 X 11.5 / All Other Prints: Small 8 X 9.65, Medium 12 X 14.48, Large 16 X 19.3 / Posters: Small 16.5 X 19.9, Medium 23.4 X 28.2 (large is not available) Softest Dreams (uploaded size 7200 X 5023) Cards / Matted Prints 12.6 X 8.8 / All Other Prints Small 11.4 X 8, Medium 17.2 X 12, Large 22.9 X 16 / Posters Small 23.3 X 16.2, Medium 33 X 23, Large 46.8 X 32.6 On The Wind (uploaded size 3900 X 2571) Cards / Matted Prints 12 X 8 / All Other Prints Small 12 X 7.9, Medium 18 X 11.8, Large 24 X 15.8 / Poster Small 23.3 X 15.3 (other sizes not available because the uploaded file is not large enough) What You can Do if Your Images are Too Small Please have a look at the links below – these are various methods and instructions for increasing your image size so you can print the larger image sizes on redbubble. WARNING: image quality must be excellent in order to increase from small to large, so be sure your original sized image is of good quality. Increasing your images too much will cause artifacting that will show up in your large print. Basic Resizing Tutorial / How I Enlarge Images and Preserve Their Quality by Steven Love I know there are other image size tutorials, but I wasn’t able to find them doing a search. Please, if you have (or know of) other tutorials that are relative to this journal, post a link to them in the comments.

  • Redbubble on steroids for Firefox users
    by Roger Barnes

There’s nifty Firefox extension called Greasemonkey that lets you customize the way a web page displays using small bits of JavaScript. Hundreds of scripts, for a wide variety of popular sites, are already available at http://userscripts.org , and now there’s one for redbubble. Based on a script for displaying large versions of thumbnails on facebook, I’ve created one that shows large image previews of art and clothing when hovering over most thumbnails and many links on redbubble.com. To give it a whirl, install Firefox (as if you haven’t already), install Greasemonkey (requires browser restart), then install my script (just click on it and Greasemonkey should pick it up) Then when you load a page, hover over a thumbnail or art/clothing link and gasp in amazement at the amount of time you’ve saved not clicking through (which you can still do of course). I got addicted to it very quickly, so much so that I immediately missed it when using another computer. This is a first release and may have a quirk or 3. Comments/feedback welcome here. Update 04JAN08: Fixed the bugs that Xavier reported, writing now works, and the hover disappears when it should. To update, install it again at the link above.

Dear all. The gift we would like to create in memory of Axel Moore, and in support of the family of a large canvas print of this photo / / taken by Bill Fonseca can now be made. thank you all for your generosity. It is warmly received. Redbubble will contact people individually and facilitate through paypal. / ___________ update 31.12.07 Paypal donations. There are a number of unexpected expenses the family has incurred due to the event, such as the Careflight helicopter coming out, and time off work. These things put an added pressure on a family at times such as these. I have looked into paypal, and it seems it is easy to do if you have the email address, which is family@origoblue.com.au and sign up to paypal here All ways of contributing to the family are greatly appreciated, and really make a difference to their lives. It is a really positive way to help someone when you’re not sure ‘what you can do”-here another way. Thank you all for your generosity. ____________ Nothing will bring Axel back, however, the memory of the community support is the glue that binds us to this earth and each other. The ceremony today was an inspiration to the human spirit. It was touching, it was real and the love people offer just by their presence, I’m sure will help console the family in the smallest of ways in this huge time of change. I know so many people would like to do something ‘real’ to help. If this is you, please feel free to contribute in this way now. kind regards to all. xsunset

  • How To Add a Larger View into the Comments Area

Lots of people like to add either a Framed View or a Large View of their image into the Comments area for the image. If you want to add a framed shot, have a look at my previous Journal entry Adding a frame around your pictures. The instructions for adding a Large View into the Add your comment box are below. Before you start, open up the Edit Your Profile page (accesible from the my bubble page – click on the edit your profile link near the top of the page). If you use a watermark, scroll down to Zoom View Watermark Preferences. Ensure that either the No watermark (default) or Place a small watermark in the corner of my images is selected. If you use a large watermark, you will obscure the view of the image on the page. Scroll a little further down to Other Preferences. Make sure that the first checkbox in this section (the one that starts with Discourage people from …) is unchecked. If you do not turn this off, you will not be able to copy the image. If you have to change anything, be sure to press the Save Changes button before moving on. Navigate to the Public View of the image of interest. / Press the view larger button (it is just under the left corner of the image). Right-click over the image and select Properties. / Copy the Address (URL) – make sure you get it all, there will likely be three lines of text starting with http: and ending with one of .jpg, .gif or .png – depending on the file type you uploaded. Select view work details (it is just under the left corner of the image) to get back to the previous page. In the Add your comment box, type an exclamation mark (!). / Paste the URL that you copied earlier (directly after the exclamation mark). / Type another exclamation mark (!) directly after the URL. / Make sure there are no spaces. Press the Add Comment button. That will do it – a large view of your image will be appended into the Comments area. I hope you find this useful. • TUTORIAL: Resizing Images for Print in Photoshop - The Simpler Way

For those of you with Photoshop, here’s a simple tutorial for resizing images for print in Photoshop. Much to my surprise, I discovered that Photoshop (CS2 is what I use) has a wizard for resizing images to print – something I had not seen before since I never ventured into the “Help” menu, which is where you’ll find it. This option is not available in CS3. I am currently printing my own images (up to 13” wide X 44” long) on an Epson R1900 and the prints I have resized using this wizard come out beautifully on that printer. I have not yet sent these off to a print-house to test them, so before you decide to sell anything sized this way, you’ll need to obtain a test-print from the printer of your choice. Download the tutorial in PDF format from here / The pdf contains screen prints of the steps, so it should be simple for anyone to follow. Since I use Photoshop CS2, I have no idea if this option is available in prior versions, or if it is available in Photoshop Elements. You’ll need to look in your programs to see. Please Note* Starting with the highest quality of image you’ve got will help result in the best quality of print.

  • Unhappy with the preview images, so.......
    by Katrina Price

I decided to make my own! / Check this out or this...

I decided to make my own! / Check this out or this Not too hard to do, in a few simple steps. 1: Take a copy of your original sized image. Crop it, or just certain parts of it like I have, and place it together to make a new image. Add the name if you like.. or not. 2: Save it (mine is saved to 300w x 450h pixels), upload it to a free image host, or your own website. I used photobucket. Probably best not to make it too wide or it might break the page layout. 3: Where you write the text description for your image, place this code instead: / !http://www.pathtoyourimage.com/imagelocation.jpg! / (the exclaimation mark is what places the image. It’s not html code, it’s RedBubble code. You could also place it with text, above, or below) Hey presto. You now have a bigger preview, or just the parts you want to show. / Like this:

It’s gratifying, but at the same time frustrating, when you don’t know who bought your stuff, so I hope you read this note, whoever you folks are…. Big thanks to whoever bought a framed print of big smile.... And many thanks to the mystery guest who bought a laminated print of grace note.... To use the vernacular, YOU ROCK!!! BTW, a couple of my shots of Barack Obama are on display at my local Democratic headquarters. I dropped by yesterday to admire them and fell into conversation with a nice old lady who, after a little prodding, told me how wonderful she thought my pics were. She went on and on, heaping praise upon great praise. Needless to say, I aw-shucks, ma’amed like nobody’s business, but, at the same time puffed up like an adenoidal Macy’s parade balloon. Though I often remind myself that I am just a vehicle, a channel, as it were, nevertheless, I must admit it felt good to know that MY ART was crossing generations to touch the heart, the soul and other organs, both real and imagined, and that your humble correspondent was probably extending the golden years of this clearly most excellent and brilliant dowager. Just as I was drifting into a reverie about the appropriate length of Pulitzer Prize speeches, my elderly companion concluded her remarks by saying that she was waiting for her husband, who was driving and that she has never driven because she is “legally blind in one eye, can’t see in the other…” shawhouse

I must say I was quite fascinating with this story i saw on the The Science Channel yesterday, it was all about the LBT (Large Binocular Telescope) if you can check it out, if it interests you as well. I will say this, i have always dreaded not knowing whats coming space wise, and Hubble to me wasnt good enough frankly, but this LBT can tell us and in advance! No fear now once its up and running in full operational mode. Your average binoculars like: Canon L IS WP (10×42) Binoculars, Yet LBT can see 5000×8400!!! / Just to give you an idea of how accurate these can see, they say they could put a soccer ball out past our own galaxy, and be able to easily read the manufacturers label! Hi all :) Sorry I have been so quiet. Been very busy with work and with doing stuff around my houses to make sure they are ready for selling. I had three bites in a week, but all have pulled out now sadly, so it’s back to square one for me at the moment. For those that are interested in viewing my Panorama’s much more closer and in greater detail, I have started to upload them to a Panorama site. At the moment I only have the two there, but will be adding all of them (and adding the links within the description of each photo) as I get to them. If anyone wants to see one of my Pano’s sooner rather than later … send me a BubbleMail and I will make sure I upload those photos asap :) :) At the moment you can view these two photos in much greater detail :) :) Have a look and let me know what you think :) The Big Sleep Baandee Lakes and Old Ruin
