Barack Obama – Change for America, for the World, for All of Us – The Audacity of Hope On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Grant Park in Chicago, Illonois, Obama proclaimed that “change has come to America.” Born in Hawaii, Obama will be the first U.S. President born outside the contiguous United States. He also will be fifth youngest President at the date of accession and the second since Lincoln whose primary political base is Illinois. This portrait illustrates and epitomizes the audacity of hope. President Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009. Selected information courtesy of Wikipedia. The recent political events in this country have created a tidal wave of hope and optimism in the minds of those of us who dream of a more perfect world where hate, bigotry and the senseless acts of social, racial and political violence are replaced by tolerance, peace and justice.
Originally done for a children’s picture book story that I was doing but it got abandoned. Perhaps I’ll get back to the story again one day.
One leader to decide, One leader to defend, One leader to think…
Holly was my long time girlfriend till she passed away late in 2007. She used to have bad nightmares and would tell them to me sometimes. Her sleep was constantly being assaulted by creatures meaning to do her harm. This is one that she told me about. / Red Polychrome Eberhardt #225 on paper. 8.5×11
My little tribute to Conan on his first week as the new host of the Tonight Show. The opening segment on the first night was great! / Go Conan go!
I originally sketched this out on 4th of July of 2006 in a park on a beautiful day with my late girlfriend. She asked me to put a small white scotty dog in one of the squares. I did and she loved that it was something she asked for and I drew it. She also asked if and when I get around to making a painting of that sketch if I would also paint in the little white dog. I did. This one is for you baby!

I did this painting over a year ago when I was going through some rough times and just needed to do something directly out of my head without making a pencil sketch first. This is one of three paintings that came out of that time. I’ve reduced this one in size for inclusion on Red Bubble. / 14×7” Acrylic painting on canvas.
Another doodle from the meeting room. Too many cooks sometimes don’t spoil the broth. / Ink on line notebook paper.
A sketch from several years ago,... I was trying to finish off a sketchbook and this was one that I put in the last pages. I always liked it but never knew what to do with it. / 8×10 Red pencil on sketch paper.
What better way to celebrate Mr. Obama’s win than with a nice cheezy caricature! http://jeffreyphillips.com.au
