When I saw that fogbow last Christmas of 08, I knew it was a very special thing. / You can bet i had fumbled with camera to capture it as quick as I could and get a good comp of it at the same time (priorities ya know) / A few suggested I check out the site Atmospheric Optics, so I did, thought what the hell I would contact seeing if he’d be interested / A few weeks pass and today I got an email saying it’s now published on the site with a permanent addy, and of course he linked back to my bubblesite / Here is the link :) Now that I have your attention..hehe / I would also like to remind you about the wildlife-appeal, those animals that were injured in those bushfires are suffering daily needing all of our help / If you can buy, buy! If you can donate, Donate, if you can speak..Spread the word!! to everyone anyone you can think of. / I am hoping to hear from Ellen, Oprah, even Dr. Phil..yes, you can bet I contacted them! (crossing fingers) Lets hope at least one out of three (prefer three) respond back. So reach out, we all love animals, we all love to shoot wildlife, so it’s our time to pay back to those animals who desperately need our help and support. / You’re more then welcome to join the Wildlife-Appeal Group if you’d rather just make the pledge for help, you will be responsible for sending the donation (can contact the wildlife-appeal of how to do that) / Check us out..and pass it on! / Now back to work on the appeal, if you need me or whatever you can contact me there, or wait til i sign back on to this account.

I must say I was quite fascinating with this story i saw on the The Science Channel yesterday, it was all about the LBT (Large Binocular Telescope) if you can check it out, if it interests you as well. I will say this, i have always dreaded not knowing whats coming space wise, and Hubble to me wasnt good enough frankly, but this LBT can tell us and in advance! No fear now once its up and running in full operational mode. Your average binoculars like: Canon L IS WP (10×42) Binoculars, Yet LBT can see 5000×8400!!! / Just to give you an idea of how accurate these can see, they say they could put a soccer ball out past our own galaxy, and be able to easily read the manufacturers label! • My New Interest in High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography

As I really enjoy capturing nature, landscapes, sunsets and similar scenes, I find the lighting often exceeds the range that can be captured. When I first started using digital photography, over 10 years ago, I realised that digital cameras capture a lower range of luminosity than film. It took quite a while to adapt my skills, and in addition it also ruled out some shots that could be taken with film. Since discovering this new approch to captuing images of this nature, I have learned that this technique overcomes the problem. Taking multiple shots of the subject while varying just the exposure so that all the detail from the darkest to the brightest is captured, this information can be post processed into an HDR image. I spent some weeks investigating both free and commercial software that claimed to offer HDR capability. From a sizable candidate list, the options were reduced by simple research on the Web, to three. Photomatix, Artizen HDR and EasyHDR Pro. After testing each, I settled on Photomatix. The biggest issue I seem to have come across is noise in the finished work. Although Photomatix has a feature to reduce noise, I’ve now discovered a better approach. First I pre-porocess the RAW images from my camera using DXO Optics. This results in correcting a broader range of common issues as well as being excellent at reducing noise. It also does a better job of processing the RAW image, direct from the camera. The output format chosen when I want to perform HDR processing is 16bit RAW TIF. This ensures greatest fidelity and produces a much better finished photo.

optical – information provided by wikipedia:

Op art, also known as optical art, is a genre of visual art, especially painting, that makes use of optical illusions. Op art is also known as geometric abstraction and hard-edge abstraction, although the preferred term for it is perceptual abstraction. "Optical Art is a method of painting concerning the interaction between illusion and picture plane, between understanding and seeing." Op art works are abstract, with many of the better known pieces made in only black and white. When the viewer looks at them, the impression is given of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibration, patterns, or alternatively, of swelling or warping.
