Vibrant pink lotus flowers with bright green pads and pods painted in a stylish, creative composition
I found this beautiful patch of lilies outside of the local / prison. It was ironic to see the barbed wire fence just beyond them in the distance. Made me terribly grateful to be standing at that spot-at that moment.. / / / >Featured< in United States / / / Laminated Print / / Framed Print / / /

I took this photo of a lilly and realised, as nice as it was, it was just like the 1001 other lilly photos out there, so I decided to try something a little different… hope u like it! Enjoy! _
Budding water lilly at Warrina Lakes in Innisfail, north Queensland.
On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. “Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.
Another infrared shot from watermead park in Leicestershire. The other magical thing about IR is that it works best when its stinking hot! The reults you get make you think that you had just photographed the hardest frost ever!

FEATURED IN SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION / FEATURED IN ALL SOFT AND CUDDLIES!! / FEATURED IN A BEAUTIFUL BLUR / FEATURED IN ALPHABET SOUP / FEATURED IN PHOTOGRAPHY 101 This little duckling got separated from his mother and was / hiding under a bush. When I approached to take a picture he kept trying to hide and eventually ran across the water and hopped on this lily pad in the middle of the pond. He stayed there until I left and when I looked back he swam back to shore. I thought he was so cute as if to say “I am safe here because you can’t see me on this lily pad” Nikon D90
Featured in All Countries~Wetlands, Ponds, Lakes, and Rivers I woke very early, and headed with my all my gear to a marsh not far from my place that has provided me with many photographic subjects. I was not to be disappointed with my lack of sleep, and the chill in the early morning air. Red-winged blackbird songs created a symphony of sounds, as the birds began their feeding, hopping from one lily pad to the next, finding grubs on the tops and often on the bottoms as they lifted the large leaves. Most of the action required that I shoot into the sun. I was not expecting great shots, but one or two captured the scene the way I witnessed it. In this shot a female is standing “ankle deep” in a pool of rain water on the surface of a large floating water lily, just as the sun is breaking the horizon and sending first beams of light onto this magical world. The Cornell University Ornithology site provides much information about the red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus), including its calls, on the excellent website. Nikon D300, Nikkor f4 600 mm lens and 1.4 teleconverter on a Gitzo 1325 tripod. Image captured about 20 kilometres west of Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, Canada.
I took this shot in the Stoke Poges memorial gardens which is in Buckinghamshire. The grounds are beautifully set out as a final resting place for your ashes. I love the way the single flower here looks like a guiding light or a bright beacon to attract the creatures from the pond to it and also the way the blue sky is reflecting on the surface of the water.
