  • I was walking in Downtown Tribeca, NY last week when I looked up at this old building. It seems vacant and I had the sneaking suspicion that it would be gutted and totally redone. I imagined this old ad on the building would be gone—and so I shot it immediately. I see it as a historical view of Old New York. I did a bit of selective coloring play to get the message across more clearly. :)

  • As some of you know I am having a bit of a pre new-year overhall today. I found this among some of my work. I thought I would share it. It’s very rare, because I only did about 3 artworks between 1997 and 2006 (LOL – seriously)! This work was done in mixed medium and happened when a friend suggested I try get back into creating artwork, so here it is! Needless to say I am very grateful to my friend who got me back into my passion! Thanks Shaun.

  • Minimalist abstract study of speeding cyclists, focusing more on the dynamics of the speed and motion of their movements / Oil on Stretched Canvas – No Airbrushing 37 X 59 inches / 94 X 150 cm contact my Agents at Gallery 112 / .....................................................................................

  • Mixed media – archival black ink, acrylic, collage – paper painted, mono & screen-printed, drawing, photo; screen-printed cotton fabric, carpet material; on canvas. Work exhibited in the Visual Arts Association Group Exhibition ‘Four Seasons’, held Cairns Regional Gallery, Qld. / Theme – ‘The Four Seasons’ by Vivaldi Background: I had working individually on art compositions relative to my passion to interpret music, rhythm/movement and energy through the use of formal visual art elements ie. line, colour, tone, shape, texture and art media. The interpretation requires one’s senses to hear and feel, absorb sound and energies, to internalize and contemplate, as apposed to recording information seen/perceived through the eyes from the physical ‘outer’ world. One has to create and interpret a visionary abstract, from a pure transitional and spiritual sensual state, from one’s own internal environment, of knowledge, understanding and experience. I jumped at the chance when this exhibition theme came up. Also I am much inspired by Kandinsky and his work, a long time favourite art philosopher and mentor. ....................................... /

  • Mixed mediums: Acrylic, rice paper, linen thread, pigment powder on canvas. / Size: 613×917 x 42 mm; Framed size: 970×665 x 50 mm Concept: Practically stitches bind, attach, and connect materials and/or surfaces together and is a metaphor for human bonding. The stitch becomes the ‘thread’, linking and connecting to the human psyche. Using a needle and thread by hand to stitch is a slow, methodical and sometimes painful process, of pushing and pulling through materials. The process reveals the two sides (dual nature) and the in-between to this affair. / / Abstractly worked, the stitch is used metaphorically for relaying energies and relationship formations. / Spirit Matter Cosmos abstractly references and resonates concepts of duality, the conscious and unconscious, complexity and simplicity, the spirit and alchemy of ‘relationships’ (blood & gold symbolism), transitory formations (the faded) illusions to connections and perceived realities. Always within, is the ‘spirit’, the centre, a voice of wisdom that guides and directs us in and through and beyond the ‘matter’. From the Exhibition/s: Sense of Attachment & Elevating the Spirit Exhibition at Cairns Regional Gallery, Qld (& toured Townsville April 24- May 31, 2009) ABC ARTPOST slide shows here ................................................................................ / FEATURED IN ABSTRACT ART DIMENSIONS

  • The North Sea at Whitby. The Herring boats at misty dawn, / To get the details of the boats correct, I’ve used a Victorian photo as the subject. I liked the very hard pen ink lines of the foreground, contrasting with the soft, misty, wet-in-wet background. 90 lb watercolour, medium rough paper. / 12”x8”

  • Finished this painting today. / I think the painting speaks for itself…...these old things have a history…it shows on every little bit of these objects. The metal, the rust and of course the old wood. I added the flowers as a tribute to all of these. Acrylics on MDF, 40×50 cm, 16’‘x20’‘ / ORIGINAL PAINTING WAS GIVEN TO MY SISTER AS A GIFT FOR ALL HER KINDNESS / . /

  • A Painting by : Shree & Ami(my wife) / Wonderful Words by : Sally Omar Well this is a moment of a poor family waiting desperately together for their father who has still not returned after whole days work, where one kid is elder sister and standing behind another is younger son waiting and being impatient about their fathers uncertain returning issue back to their house. I specifically wanted to show their love, bond, respect, intimacy, curiocity, closeness, affection, feeling of insecurity, fear and a sense of worriedness, impatience and all sorts of wieard thoughts going on specially in the mind of the mother who desperately wants her husband to return back to home soon as its already too late and as both the children are hungry along with her, all of them waiting for their dad to acompany them at whatever food they have left with. Being mother of two little kids she cannot cry or show her sense of worry infront of kids but still she is infact so upset, so tensed and so curious for finding the reasons about not returning back of her husband till so late which she reflects throught her eyes and facial expressions along with managing her kids by giving them assurance that he will comeback soon. My wife Ami helped me a lot specially for bringing those waiting expressions on the face for which i will always be grateful to her unmatched artistic skills. / All the artwork is given a sepia tone with charcoal to show the feel of my theme desperate – await, which i think goes well with the moment of impatience…enjoy. And lastly a special thanks to Sally who did a marvellous job within no time giving a touch of liveliness to these waiting family with her wonderful words. • Oils on canvas (50×70 cm) I had lots of fun painting this scene of three brothers hard at work on the beach… One little fellow is trying hard to remove clay and sand from the hole they dug but ends up dropping half his spadeful back into the water… Another little brother huffs and puffs his way up to the pool but his bucket is always half full by the time he reaches it… And the oldest brother… well, judging from the grin, he must be the ‘supervisor’... This painting was done at request from Lisa Wilson and the three brothers are her little sons. I used different photographs and with different poses to make up a story for this painting!! I hope you like it Lisa!!
