This collection of Urban Landscapes is drawn from a larger body of work called Darkscapes. They are moody evocative invitations into mystery and imagination taken from the ordinary things that make up the fabric of city life. Beauty is all around us if only we take the time to notice it. We all look but maybe we don’t all see. This collection of images is a way for me to share what I see with others. Some years back I was short listed for a Sculpture commission at the new Green Square Railway station. I didn’t in the end win the commission but I did get to walk up the tunnels before any trains traveled though the station. This is one of the many photo’s I took. This is a companion image to the Urban Landscape#28 taken underneath Green Square station a couple of years ago before the trains started to use the lines. Walking up these tracks was a truly amazing experience.

So many images on redbubble are stunning, but it’s the rare one that sticks with you. I’d like to nominate just such an image – Barfly by Shanina Conway. I wrote the following in the long “barfly”comments column – wow, tragic, elegant, rheumy-eyed human dignity slipping into darkness, the eyes red as an open wound, her shadow the color of poison.. It’s one of my favorite works of art. / Congratulations, Shanina, and thanks for sharing it on redbubble.
3D study of subtle expressions – I love the unspoken word..
I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty. / UPDATE- / In 2008 this painting was STOLEN. / It was being displayed in Bentley Pines Restaurant with a group of other art from fellow students. toward the end of the year the restaurant went though refurbishments and stored the works in a disabled toilets :/ we were asked to collect the work but this painting had already gone before it could be collected. Ive contacted all the people in charge and been forwarded around like a telstra customer on hold and still haven’t gotten it back. :(

There’s more ocean in fish than fish in the ocean… Nature is wise, but Mankind… just bumbling fools. Learn from the living, watch water in motion, Don’t waste your time staring at small stagnant pools. Fish are content to live their life in water, Water is after all their life’s element. There’s no need for them to be an “achiever,” Living, staying alive… that’s accomplishment. But there was one fish wanting something “better”, He wanted “achievement,” he wanted a “first.” He leapt out of water, fins in quick flutter, Taking fast to the sky… but soon died of thirst… / / Poem by Peter. Taken at Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe, Barrie, Ontario Canada on Monday June 2nd/08. Leaning over the docks I noticed this school of minnows that kept dispersing and rejoining in intricate patterns in the water. My husband did not think I should upload this to RB but I find it an interesting abstract of the underwater world. I was attempting with this work to represent visually that lucid feeling that one gets at times- I get it whenever I paint- when the world outside of one’s focus becomes blurred, even time seems out of wack. Part of you’s cemented in reality like always but a part is somewhere else. Original work 18”x24”, acrylic on masonite.
Choice II is for those who love the light side of the spectrum. It takes on such a different feeling than the much darker original, The Choice / Love should never be a choice. While man attempts to recreate his universe through science, emulating God; at the core, each of us struggles with daily choices that eclipse logic. Are choices of the heart logical or divinely inspired, impetuous or practical, or do these rather define constraints of the mind? Should the heart always win over thought process, or does one inform the other? By our divine nature, women have a choice, to follow our heart, head, will, or spirit. Wrong or right, we exercise it. I painted this group portrait some time back, and greatly enjoyed depicting the richness of colour, texture and light – hopefully also capturing the spirit of these wonderful people, that they enjoy within their culture. / They are sitting in a yurt, listening attentively to a European translator describing the differences between our culture and their own.
