This image can be purchased HERE where it is titled “reflection” and proceeds go to the Phoenix-Appeal group. Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (there is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) Dawn over Loch Voil, (outside Balquidder, Scotland) This is the 6th in a series of 8 images taken that morning (note 5 preceding starting with ‘first light’) taken with my brandnew and very first point and shoot digi camera (a fujifinepix a500) ‘dawn mist’ and is followed by ‘dawn mist rising’ taken just after this one with the frost still on the ground… Then some hours later this lucky shot from a layby ‘mirror calm scottish loch’ / / 5 earlier images are ; / ‘first light’: ‘early mist’: ‘blanket mist’: ‘mist tree’: and ‘tree light’:

Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. Its all in the title. This isn’t just an ordinary Church Spire. I am told its a copy of the Spire at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. This is actually what I would consider the most prominant landmarks in Peebles. Peebles is a small Scottish Borders Town which lies about 20 miles south west of Edinburgh. Its possibly my most popular image to date out here in the real world. Made the Redbubble Home Page on the 29th of August 2008. It may be a ‘new’ version of an old shot …but is it improved…? hmm….thats the question…. (CLICK ‘next’ to compare….) The original untouched dawn mist was my 2nd ever post to rb with taken with my brand-new pocket fuji finepix A500… and it’s been the most popular shot in my gallery by far. It’s just reached the unbelievable figure of 100 faves – how awesome and mindboggling is that!! So this plus a new challenge gave me the idea of tweaking it slightly to see if it could be improved on . I fiddled with the jpg as camera raw in PS Els 6… / Comments, comparisons and suggestions most welcome as I’d love to know what you think….. Out for hours on a perfect day out with my new dslr it took ages to get far as I kept stopping to try things like this…. bliss! Caught ‘up the sware’ (a local viewpoint) at dawn yesterday ( 23/9/08) as the sun rose over the tweed valley just outside Peebles, scottish borders. Princes Street Gardens were acquired by the city in 1876 and further landscaped by the City Architect Robert Morham (1839 -1912). Morham also built the Gardener’s cottage in 1886. Another one from my recent trip to Skye. It took me a while to process this one, but I’m glad I spent the time doing it. Taken on the beach at Elgol on the same day as the other similar one I posted. Different composition, same idea – I wanted to get a horizontal shot as I very rarely take them. I was drawn to this particular spot by the different coloured rocks, and the big rock in the bottom left corner which leads you round the edge of the water and back into the mountains again. Canon Eos 5D, 24mm TS-E at f22, ISO 100 for 8 seconds with a 1.2 ND and 0.6 ND grad
