  • With my love of B&W’s and how water sits predominently in my work, it seemed fitting to dedicated a calendar just for it. / Hope you enjoy this one

  • I wanted something that showed water in its various states both in colour and in B&W. To show that it sometimes can be serene and in others, be powerful. A variation of a theme on another of my calendars, I know, but I wanted it to appeal to a wider audience.

  • The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are depicted in Scott’s atmospheric and vibrant oils. / JAN: The Plane to Barra lands on the beach just beyond this croft. / FEB: This Sky study focuses on the effects of afterglow at sunset across the Western isles. / MAR: Crinan, Postcard picturesque harbour town located at the end of the Crinan Canal. My wife and I stayed at the Crinan Hotel owned by Scottish landscape artist Frances MacDonald. / APR: Looking West in the evening, cloud cover can become backlit and play tricks with perceived colour. / MAY: This place on the East coast of Barra allowed me a great opportunity to play with cool/warm colour contrasts and design-led mark making. / JUN: This loch (in the shape of the map of Scotland) I’ve painted many times. I pass it on trips to Skye and it looks different every time. / JUL: Sometimes what you want to say with colour can be restricted by reality for a representational painter… not here. This accurately depicts a recognisable landscape on Barra, while utilising many abstract elements. / AUG: When the horizon becomes unbroken all attention is focused on the forces of nature. / SEPT: The backlit effects of views out to sea from the West coast are in this case painted from memory. / OCT: Near the causeway from Barra (left) to Vatersay (right) this study captures a moment when the sun breaks out to strike the gulf stream waters which light up against the dark sky ahead. / NOV: Sometimes a literal depiction of a scene is the best way to highlight a postcard picturesque spot like this. / DEC: This describes the quality of evening light across the broken West Coast using contrasting translucent and opaque paint application.

  • Dramatic Scottish Landscape Photography

  • My favourite images from many travels around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

  • Sunsets from the West of Scotland

  • This calendar shows a selection of recent paintings from Glasgow based landscape artist Scott Naismith. Scott uses vivid colours in a vigorous application to represent the fast changing light conditions of the West coast of Scotland. Colour use often becomes an entirely emotional response to the subject while tone can remain representational. The love he has for his native Scottish countryside is portayed in his work through an ebullient energy with which he handles the colour with pallette knife and brush.

  • All these shots were taken in beautiful Scotland where the people are friendly, the views are out of this world, the food is fantastic and the weather is crap. LOL

  • Photos from around the South of Scotland

  • From the Scottish Highlands to the Central Lowlands and from the west coast to the east, this calendar contains a mixture of landscape, floral and urban photographs of Scotland. There are daffodils at Hogganfield Park in Glasgow’s east end and an eagle watching over the Dunbartonshire hills mixed with a vintage photograph of an old style continental cafe reconstructed at Glasgow’s Transport Museum. The Monarch of the Glen stands proud in Ardnamurchan. There is a view of harvest time in Fife and a dog bounding through a field of spring flowers in a Scottish park. There are photographs of the romantic Castle Stalker, New Lanark in autumn and a boat filled with flowers and a robin redbreast, too …

  • This calendar is inspired by the beauty of the natural world and features a wide variety of beautiful flowers and plants photographed all over Scotland. With the exception of the hothouse flower the Bird of Paradise which is grown in Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens, all of the plants photographed grow in the soil of Scotland and include Scottish poppies, roses, daisies, peonies, tulips and mushrooms.

  • Took a trip to Edinburgh and here is a few of my faves. /

  • Selection of recent oil paintings from Scott Naismith
