October 1st in Dallas, Texas as a set of Thunderstorms roll into the area.
We stayed a long weekend at a campsite in the woods in Laag Soeren, a small village in the area ‘de Achterhoek’, Holland. On our way back home (I was the passenger),we saw these balloons floating above the highway. Featured in “Skyscapes” 4 October 2009 Shot taken 20 september 2009, Canon Powershot SX1 IS.

We didn’t really want storms when we decided to wander through the great chain of Rocky Mountain parks along the British Columbia/Alberta border (Canada), but the inclement weather proved to be something of a bonus. The drama and mood of the storm clouds, the stark rock peaks of the mountains and the ice sheets in the high valleys and crevasses, all combined to offer new and exciting images of the wilderness. / This scene was taken in Mt. Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia, Sept.4, 2009 with a Fuji S100FS camera. Featured in “Skyscapes”
Another shot, this one taken on my birthday last year. This is once again on Aucklands West coast, Bethells Beach is gorgeous with some amazing caves at either end. I will endeavour to go there sometime soon and get some great shots of the caves. Maybe some HDR
Photo taken about 1/2 mile from my home here in Leitchfield Kentucky. Shot using my Olympus SP 550UZ. Used bracketing then selected #1 & #5 used Photoshop CS4 to combine layers with some dodging and burning.

Taken from my escape to the fire escape mid day while at work. Such a refreshing sight in the midst of the insanity of my day job!

The weather in Sydney this week has been schizo. 37C heat and wind on Tuesday for Melbourne Cup was not particularly pleasant, especially if you were a bloke trussed up in a suit and tie like me. Then the rest of the week was 15 degrees cooler, cloudy and wet. But it’s all come good today to the relief of several thousand people as Sculpture By The Sea is back. If you haven’t been then you have a week remaining to head east and wander the coast from Bondi to Glamarama to view the ever interesting and unusual works of art. The best time for photos is definitely early: read 5.30am. But for that you get the sunrise and clear shots of all the sculptures. If you come over next weekend for the final days then bring your elbow pads and prepare for cluttered viewfinders! Canon EOS 5D MkII / EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM / 32mm @ f/4, 1/60, ISO 100

Welcome to our new moderators – Richard, Trevor, Gabbie and Emsky :))
Kia ora, this group is for skyscapes art that is predominantly sky, as opposed to land or sea. Majestic cloud-filled skys or stormy nights. Sunrises and sunsets. Art where the focus is the sky, not a building, smokestack, moon or anything else unless there’s a fabulous sky in front of or behind it. And if you have two very similar images, it goes without saying that they would look better entered separately than together.
